Last week, I had a virtual call with Winnie Tuai from Motorola Solutions and it was an incredibly insightful experience. I gained so many insights into the company's culture, values and people. More importantly, Winnie shared invaluable tips on how to excel in interviews and develop a successful job-seeking strategy from a recruiter's perspective. She provided guidance on how to impressively present the skills obtained from non-technical jobs on my resume and also gave feedback to tailor my interview responses. Above all, her friendliness and understanding nature made the experience truly remarkable. She encouraged me to bring out the best in myself. We had an engaging conversation, discussing her company, sharing our experiences and had a lot of laughs. What was supposed to be a 30-minute call ended up lasting two hours, and I can't thank her enough for her time, guidance and the invaluable insights I couldn't have gained elsewhere 💕
Given this special opportunity, shoutout to the Grad Girls - Vic ICT for Women for the Kick-Off event. I still remember exactly that I was a bit shy to join such a large event of 150 people without knowing anyone beforehand. However, their email message resonated with me: "Sometimes, the bravest thing one can do is show up". That inspired me to attend and surprisingly, I won the catch-up prize that led to our conversation.
Since that mind-blowing Kick-Off event, my journey has taken an exciting new turn. Within just 2 months, I can feel myself growing both personally and professionally. My self-esteem is boosted to another level, now I'm more proactive, attended many events, do things I've never done before. So far, I've attended all the Grad Girls events, including the first sponsor event with Motorola Solutions (although I couldn't secure the ticket at first but somehow luck smiled on me in the last minute😊) - and the event was more than I could ever ask for.
I can't wait for all the next events to come with Grad Girls, thank you so much to Vic ICT For Women and a special thanks to Cheryl Yeoh for all your contribution.
P.S.: I see things as a journey without a destination, as you reach one "destination", a new journey begins from zero. I'm thrilled to experience my next phase of growth and see where it will take me!
