It's Australian Made Week, a time to celebrate and support Australia’s local makers and growers all around the country. Here's a few facts about the green and gold kangaroo: 🦘 The Australian Made, Australian Grown logo (AMAG) is the only registered country of origin certification trade mark for the full range of genuine Australian products and produce. 🦘 The AMAG logo has been helping Australian consumers, farmers, processors and manufacturers for more than thirty years. 🦘 There are a strict set of rules governing the logo’s use which require that it must always be used with one of five descriptors; ‘Australian Made’, ‘Australian Grown’, ‘Product of Australia’, ‘Australian Seafood’ or ‘Australian’ (for export use only). 🦘 To use the logo, goods must meet the criteria set out in Australian Consumer Law as well the more stringent Australian Made, Australian Grown Logo Code of Practice. 🦘 More than 4,200 businesses are registered to use the AMAG logo, which can be found on some 20,000 products sold in Australia and around the world. 🦘 Research shows that 99% of Australians recognise the AMAG logo, 91% of Australians want to see more Australian Made products, and 77% of Australians are willing to pay more for Australian Made products. Packaging waste in the EU must be reduced by more than a fifth by 2030 and most or all of the packaging material must be recyclable. Details are in negotiation and final decisions will probably be made by March 2024. This puts pressure on an industry that is more strongly represented in Austria than almost anywhere else, says Syngroup CEO Walter Woitsch MM Packaging, ALPLA Group, Dunapack Packaging - Prinzhorn Group, Constantia Flexibles, Mondi Group, Ball Beverage Packaging Ludesch GmbH or Smurfit Kappa produce corrugated board, cardboard, plastic bottles or films. In addition, there are more than a hundred medium-sized companies that are leaders in niches. Salzburger Nachrichten reports on what is driving the sector today. The primary emphasis is on the sustainable management of the product range. Internationally, Kaufland already uses 85% #certifiedcocoa in cocoa-containing products. In Germany, since 2022, 100% of cocoa-containing items are #Fairtrade, #Rainforest, and #organic certified. Internationally, comprehensive #certification of cocoa-containing items is targeted by the end of 2024. We aim to promote the use of sustainably produced cocoa and contribute to positive changes. Improving production and working conditions in cocoa-producing countries requires long-term collaboration among all stakeholders in the cocoa supply chain.   3️⃣ Why are you a member of GISCO?   We believe that long-term change in #cocoafarming can only be achieved through the joint development of holistic solutions. The challenges at the source and the compliance requirements for retail companies are complex, which is why we consider it necessary to drive industry initiatives forward and promote collective #learning among members. Stepping back in time to 1927! Here's a throwback to the earliest Meiko Warewashing unit. Standing beside it is like a journey through history, reminding us of how far we've come. Meiko's story began with a noble vision – to sanitize an unsanitized world. Today, that vision has led to stringent compliance with HAACP and GKP standards. The world has changed, and so has the need for impeccable hygiene and efficiency in the foodservice industry. Visiting the Meiko Experience Centre was nothing short of amazing. It's a testament to how innovation and dedication have transformed our industry. We've come a long way, and the journey is far from over. As we embrace new technologies and face fresh challenges, it's essential to stay connected with our roots. The ‘old’ Toblerone chocolate logo had three messages: 1.     The alpine Matterhorn Mountain as a tribute to Switzerland, near to the town that is the home of the confectionary – which also inspired the triangular shape of the chocolate bar 2.     The word Berne in the name, which is the home of chocolate where it was produced since 1908 3.     The Bear on the mountain as it is the heraldic animal of the city of Berne, Switzerland   Cool fact alert - The creator of this chocolate, Theodor Tobler applied for the Toblerone manufacturing process patent at the Swiss Federal Institute of Intellectual Property in Bern in 1909. Albert Einstein, at the time was working at the institute as a clerk and is said to have been involved in the patenting.   Anyway, about the ‘old’ logo ….   Kraft Foods (renamed Mondelēz in 2012) acquired Toblerone in 1990.
