Our Sustainable Transport Officer Robin Loos is at this morning's Platform for electromobility's event on greening corporate fleets to represent the consumer perspective. BEUC's 2022 study on the total cost of ownership of electric vehicles showed that electric cars already cheapest option today for many consumers. The financial benefits of electrification are the greatest for second and third owners. But consumers are still facing high upfront cost for new EVs, and lack of supply in the second hand market is an added burden. An EU initiative on the electrification of large fleets would help them find second-hand EVs sooner.

I joined the @ALICE General Assembly yesterday, also celebrating the 10th year anniversary as a European Technology Platform by the European Commission. Interesting overview of the many accomplishments of ALICE and sessions on the thematic work of ALICE including urban logistics, collaboration in logistics, deployment of digital logistics and the Physical internet. The session "are we ready to fast transition road transport to zero emission technologies?" with participation of Andrea Condotta, Zeljko Jeftic, Robin Lataire and Mats Rosenquist agreed that the road transportation industry and business models around it will be heavily transformed in the next 10 year, but recharging infrastructure availability is an important barrier for adoption. Collaboration and strong partnerships between key stakeholders: vehicles, infrastructure, green energy and transportation companies is a lever for accelerations.

Just ready for another incredible Nordic EV Summit, a conference I've been attending for years now. It's incredible to see how this event has grown from its humble beginnings, reflecting the exponential growth of the electric vehicle industry itself. Back when I first started attending, EV numbers weren't exactly small, especially in Norway, which has long been a global leader in EV adoption. However, despite Norway's pioneering efforts, acceptance and resistance to EVs persist worldwide. Yet, events like these give me hope. They bring together innovators, policymakers, and enthusiasts who are all committed to accelerating the transition to sustainable transportation. Multidisciplinarity and an interest for everything new both about technology and society, without forgetting the necessary critical thinking, this is the approach at the root of another work I contributed to in the last months, which I'm glad to share with you. Earlier this year I had to opportunity to collaborate with the Competence Center for 3D Transportation, a unique Swiss organization and think tank with the aim to gather the best knowledge and people about the future trends of transportation in the world. I was immediately fascinated by this institution, given my interest in the topic, and I metaphorically raised by hand for a collaboration. This is the result, a report on one of the most interesting and compelling technological and social trends: Urban Air Mobility and Vertical Take-Off and Landing Vehicles; my approach to the subject, as usual, has been the one of the keen researcher, whose aim is to find the substance behind the hype. I really recommend the reading of this report, product of a considerable research effort with the vision to contribute to the general and professional knowledge about this futuristic field.
