It is now official: Truestory is joining the Smartbox Group. I have handed off my small share of the company, but I will not hand over my spot on the team. The team vibe and the culture are too big a part of me to just let it go. The last three years have been a rollercoaster ride. We all know the story: Covid, Staycation holiday, tax-free gift cards, the energy crisis, layoffs, and now an acquisition. It is hard to believe that so many significant "events" can fit into 36 months. The good thing about this rollercoaster ride is that we have realized what the core values of Truestory and our brand are: - great supply - a user-centric approach to our product - performance marketing as a foundation, and brand focus on top. And most importantly, the teams appetite to work cross-functionally to try to solve complex user problems. I'm happy to hear that these values are the same values Smartbox sees in their acquisition. But I'm personally proud to say that Smartbox has only "seen" 50% of what they have acquired yet. In the coming months, as they get to know the team and our business model, they will realize what a good deal the acquisition is. This new chapter also marks a goodbye to our founder, Lasse Kjær. It has been fun and challenging. We have agreed on a lot of things, but of course, also disagreed. The last 6.5 years have definitely shaped me as a person, a process that has been influenced by the collaboration with you, Lasse. Thank you for that. So now, I'm just looking forward to get my hands even more dirty together with Jakob Hermansen, Kathrine Mie Christensen, Helle Neerup Rørvang, Nanna Vestergaard Simonsen, Line Birk Holm Olesen, Kim Weltz, Janne Iren Græsdal, Leeza Borchgrevink, Lotta Witzell, Vickie Plet Bundgaard Mose, Leo Gono, Alexander Boychenko, Mimi Nyberg, Rikke Borgbjerg, Oliver Løvaa Mikkelsen, Henriette Buch Lundø , Rikke Fænø Jensen , Thea Bang Hansen, Frederik Hermann, Miłosz Bator, Louise Lumby Lauritsen and of course our new interns Isabella Aalestrup, Maariya El-Kai, Rebecca Dahse. 𝗨𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗰𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗿𝘀 - which means understanding who the ideal ones are, why they buy, how they buy, what they value and how they feel after they buy from you - is arguably the veritable wellspring of innovation. Companies that actively listen to their customers can develop products and services that are better aligned with market demands, leading to long-term success.
