CAREER UPDATE: After stepping back for 15 months to focus on family/self, I’m re-entering the workforce in T minus 10 days. The most exciting part, I am starting something all my own, where I get to combine a passion with my strengths... but more to come on this later. I look back on the last year with gratitude and confidence in knowing I made the best decision for myself and my family. To all who counseled, mentored, supported and cheered me on along the way, THANK YOU. I leave you all with a photo of my view in the exact place where I decided to make a big life change, and a few of my lessons learned during the 15-month hiatus. It hasn't always been an easy journey, but I wouldn't change a second of it. 1) Prioritizing self and well-being IS prioritizing your family. And it’s absolutely critical for your own well-being. I’ve re-prioritized my day and once again start most days with exercise. Mentally & physically I’ve never felt better. 2) Taking time to reflect and identify what YOU want IS productive. 3) We have the power to shape our own path. And if you change your mind and want a new path, that's okay too. As long as you stay true to your values, it’ll generally work out. I couldn't be more thrilled about what's next. Can't wait to share more in the coming weeks.... on to the next adventure!

I'm curious: what aspect of your professional journey brings you the most joy and fulfillment? One of my fundamental principles, which I frequently share with my team, centers around a vital question: What fuels your passion? In the dynamic world of the animal industry, especially within the realm of canine training, it's easy to encounter challenges that can dampen one's spirit. Personally, I've encountered my fair share, but if I were to pinpoint one that truly resonates with me, it would be the profound human-animal bond. There's something truly remarkable about witnessing the connection between a dog and their owner. It goes beyond mere behaviors and body language; it transcends into an intangible, soul-deep connection. It's this aspect of my profession that truly lights up my career.

Yesterday the Rarekind team attended our ‘Away day’; a day to collaborate, bring the whole team together, and work towards the end of the year and the start of 2024.   One of the topics Geoff Crews covered was around anchor points – significant events, or experiences throughout our lives that have a lasting and stabilising influence on growth and identity.   We went around the room and were encouraged to share our own anchor points. Some shared moments from their childhood, some of hardship and others of big changes in their lives.   It got me thinking about my own anchor points in my life and how they’ve influenced my identity. A recent one that came to mind was actually earlier this year, when I made the scary step (leap) into a new career in recruitment, after 10 years in real estate.   The growth I’ve experienced in such a short time, since making this decision, has been so rewarding. It hasn’t always been comfortable, and definitely had its challenges in adapting to a completely new industry– but it’s so exciting to take a step back and look at how far I’ve come.    It’s so important to take the time to reflect on these moments in our lives and recognise the growth and impact they’ve had on us.   Can you think of an anchor point in your own career? #rarekind #anchorpoints #careerchange
