Winston, Gabriella, Torin and John are the founding members of Soben’s Visibility, Inclusivity, Community, and Education (VICE) Committee. As we close out this #Pride Month, they shared their four tips for how to be an ally in the workplace: 1️⃣ Educate yourself - this can be done by either researching via reputable sources online or talking to anyone you might know that’s willing to help you. 2️⃣ Provide a safe space - make sure that LGBT+ people around you know that you support them and provide a space for them to talk if that is something they need. 3️⃣ Active Listening - always make sure to actively listen as LGBT+ people talk to you. This is critical to understanding someone’s perspective. 4️⃣ Speak Up - if you see someone being oppressed in the workplace, you should either reach out to the victim or reach out to HR to report it.
