Good to get Rural on the agenda.
We're looking forward to our first time at UKREiiF - the UK’s Real Estate Investment & Infrastructure Forum, taking place in Leeds later this month, where we're hosting a fringe event ‘Where there’s muck, there’s brass’ with Irwin Mitchell. UKREiiF is the UK’s largest gathering of property professionals bringing together developers, investors, funders, landowners, government and local authority policy and decision makers with the aim of accelerating sustainable and transformational development. The conference programme is packed with interesting sessions covering all aspects of property development – except one – rural development. With opportunities around planning reform, natural capital, housing supply and an increasing demand for places to live work and play in the countryside, rural development should not be overlooked, and we are pleased to be creating space to debate this important subject. If you are going to be at the conference and would like to join us, please get in touch info@ruralsolutions.co.uk. Sally Ormiston #UKREiiF #UKREiiF2024 #RuralDevelopment #ADifferentView

💥We're looking forward to making a big impact at UKREiiF next week, leading region's pitch for investment on the national stage. If you're going - come and see us at our pavillion! 🤝A unified ‘Team Cambridgeshire and Peterborough’ approach will be at the heart of our first appearance at the UK's biggest trade and investment conference. 🗣️ And there's a packed schedule of panels and conversations including how to balance the growth of the Cambridge economy with the needs of the community, Levelling Up in action in Peterborough, the importance of agri-tech in future food security, and how to revitalise market towns. We want to glean insight and best practice from around the country in making our region better. 📢 Promoting the region to the Government, partner councils and investors nationally and globally to bring in trade and investment is a key part of the Combined Authority’s role in fostering sustainable growth and creating more opportunity for residents and local businesses. 👥 It's all part of the Combined Authority's partnership working with constituent authorities to develop a ‘one-voice’ approach for advocating and influencing on behalf of Cambridgeshire and Peterborough. 💬 Mayor Dr Nik Johnson said: “Our presence at UKREiiF is another sign of the Combined Authority’s continuing improvement – being more than the sum of the region’s parts to make the pitch nationally and globally for the investment our region needs to grow sustainably and ultimately improve everyone’s lives.” Read more! https://bit.ly/44I7yNI

Development Finance Institutions (#DFIs) play a critical role in promoting sustainable development through their investments in private sector projects in low and middle-income countries. 💰 How can DFIs' funding models affect their ability to deliver positive impact? We compared the funding models of the 3️⃣ largest European bilateral DFIs: France’s Proparco, the Netherlands’ Financierings-Maatschappij voor Ontwikkelingslanden and the U.K.’s British International Investment. Our anlaysis indicates: ➡ There is no one-size-fits-all funding model for DFIs. Models should be tailored to best suit each institution's needs and realities. ➡ DFIs need to coordinate and fine-tune their funding models so that they complement each other and optimise the use of limited resources. You make Extremely very points Amir Hussain what you need is a holistic alignment of macro level policies with all the stakeholders in the ecosystem so your infrastructure development plans are dove tailed to your industrial policy, education policy ,health policy and other initiatives that promote social cohesion and inclusivity .
It’s great UKREiiF convenes so many property people, but are we all speaking the same ‘language’!?! There’s a feeling many places are simply gambling on development without a clear and discernible rationale that is driving the proposition. Given the tightening financial landscape, actually delivering schemes that can be a catalyst for regeneration, has to have a strong grounding in the overall place ‘story’. This then needs to form the basis for a relationship based approach with funders, developers and others. The great number of events, receptions and interaction opportunities at UKREiiF offer a phenomenal opportunity to make this happen, but only if we have some understanding of each sectors challenges and thresholds. Attending in a funder capacity for the first time, has been very revealing. #investment #regeneration #councildevelopment #pensionfunds #placemaking

As well focusing heavily on attracting more investors, fund managers and capital from overseas in 2024, UKREiiF is seeing a surge in other international delegates attending - from States, cities and countries to major blue-chip employers who've committed senior representation. It's not just people knocking at our door. Countless hours are going in to ensure we have those in attendance that can improve the UKREiiF experience and crucially to do what we want UKREiiF to do - accelerate the deployment of capital and accelerate projects to create sustainable and inclusive economic growth...creating jobs, homes, and the places our communities want to live, work and play. Here's a hint at some of those secured already...some more obvious than others. Big plans ahead for 2024... 😁
