1984 Olympic 2x Bronze medalist (200 & 4x100m) Thomas Jefferson and I had a friendly debate. Which US Olympic team had the most medals 1984 or 2016? This answer is a little complicated. We called our in-house track and field statition and historian Duffy Mahoney for this answer. He said 1984 won 40 medals but they put an astrik by it because Russia boycotted the 1984 Olympic Games. 2016 the U.S. competed against Russia and the rest of the world and we won 32 medals. Technically 1984 has the most but they didn’t compete against the whole world. Do you think the 1984 Olympic team won this debate or do you think 2016 Olympic Team won? #ShotDiva #TeamUSA #History #Olympians

It's election season around the world, so who will be the IOC's next president? While not due until 2025, when the current IOC president Thomas Bach is due to stand down, insiders are already discussing who will be elected to arguably the most powerful position in world sport. There are three front runners even though lobbying has not officially begun - the UK's Lord Sebastian Coe president of World Athletics, Zimbabwe's Kirsty Coventry chair of the coordination commission for the Brisbane 2032 Olympic Games, and Spain's Juan Antonio Samaranch Jr. While not yet ready for such a position, China's gold medal winning speed skater from Sochi 2014, Zhang Hong, has all the makings of a future IOC leader. #Olympics #IOC #president #OlympicPresident #sport #sportspolitics #sportsbusiness #China #sportinchina #olympicgoldmedal #Gangwon2024 #SebCoe #worldathletics #swimming #worldswimming #speedskating #pyeongchang2018

Fosbury Flop.... 1968 Olympics. Revolutionized the way of high jumper approached the event by arching their back. Nowadays, every high jumper athlete will perform using this method. But not prior 1968 Olympics. We can learn few things from this amazing story. First, this is an example how improvement in best practices can elevate the performance. Second, continous improvement is essential towards improving the best practices. Third, always challenge the conventional norm including the current best practices. Don't take all of the best practices and maintain the status quo. There are always room for improvement.

In Tokyo 2021 Olympics, out of 33 sports, 17 involved some kind of ball. While there's no official study, it's estimated that around 30% of sports worldwide use balls. But how did ball sports become so popular? Ball games first started gaining attention in ancient Greece and Rome, where they were played for military training. The Greeks played Episkyros, where teams threw a ball back and forth. Romans had Harpastum, a game similar to modern rugby and soccer. When European colonizers introduced new ball sports to the Americas, it shaped the modern ball sports landscape. Baseball evolved from English cricket, while American football was influenced by rugby and soccer. Today, ball sports are played globally, with many international competitions and professional leagues. What was the first ball sport you played? Share your experience in the comments below!
