Waco is a tight-knit community, and our team loves working with local clients! Earlier this year, Waco Montessori School came to Four Columns in need of a completely redesigned website before the fall semester began. Some teams may shy away from developing a website in less than three months, but not us. Making it work for our clients is a priority, and we’re honored to have proven this to be true again with Waco Montessori School! We’re launching their website in phases—check out the first now: https://lnkd.in/gfGqVPyx

A few weeks back, I had the pleasure of witnessing and photographing a tradition at Westminster School called "The Lawn Ceremony". Essentially, the 12th graders invite the 11th graders to join them in a special area of campus exclusive to the graduating class. It's an honor to be personally led onto the lawn. It's part of the school's culture. And, often, it's an emotional moment for all. In the first five years of photographing this annual event, I didn't understand the reason for tears. They looked like happy tears, but I wasn't sure. This year, the head of the school, Elaine White, spoke succinctly at one of the closing ceremonies about the importance of community. And then it all made sense. From the first day of school to the last, schools such as Westminster have a broader mission than just education. They want to give their students a taste of what's possible in the "real world" – that connection, cooperation, collaboration, and community are all achievable. The happy tears, I think, are evidence that despite the trials and tribulations of the past three years, they too can experience that same sense of togetherness as their older peers. It's perhaps also a reminder that they have just one more year to go before graduating from high school. If you are a part of a team, what traditions bring you together with your colleagues, and what is your mission? Drop a comment below. Follow my account and share this post, if you believe people in your organization would get something out of it. #cooperation #connection #collaboration #community

The attack on public schools is an attack on equity in our education system. Traditional public school districts in Ohio serve more than 1.8 million students and employ more than 245,000 Ohioans. An investment in our public schools is an investment in our nation’s 50 million public school students. #fundpublicschools #nationalpublicschoolsweek

In a recent edition of Exchange Every Day dedicated to embracing families, communities, and culture, Monica Wells, our family and community program administrator, shared her deep connection to families and communities and how it positively impacts children's success. "Strong, authentic relationships between our families, students, and educators are key. We must speak life into our students, cheer them on, teach them the skills, and provide the tools they need to be prepared for the future. We must show examples of the power, importance, and necessity of community." Read more here: https://lnkd.in/gc7ur8uu

Check out this article in USA Today featuring our new Back2School campaign, Raise Your Hand for Boys & Girls Clubs. The story highlights how Clubs support mental health and social emotional learning. Raise Your Hand for Boys & Girls Clubs! #RaiseYourHand
"As we head into back-to-school season, getting prepared is not just about freshly sharpened pencils and school supplies, it is also a time to empower young people with the tools they need to be successful,” said Jim Clark, president & CEO of Boys & Girls Clubs of America. “At Boys & Girls Clubs around the country, each day after school caring mentors not only support what kids are learning during the school day, they equip young people with experiences and opportunities that build resilience, character, and curiosity. We are incredibly grateful for our partners, who are generously supporting Boys & Girls Club kids and teens across the nation to make this school year one of the best years yet.” To support, please visit bgca.org/b2s. Thank you, USA TODAY, for creating a great Back2School feature editorial with Boys & Girls Club of Elgin. We'd also like to thank Nationwide Children's Hospital, Brittany Bender, Kate Endries, LMSW and Eliza Lynch for their contribution to this piece.
