Owner, East Side Staffing: HR Recruiter specializing in the placement of experienced HR/People/ Talent Professionals
Picture a competitor of yours for a moment. Now, imagine both you and they are going to be hiring come July for the same position. You'll be competing for the same talent. How are YOU going to put yourself in a better place? THEY are doing the following: *Hiring me to help them build better hiring processes *Engaging me to train/upskill their internal TA team to hone their skills *Having me consult with their current hiring managers to ensure they are improving candidate experience When hiring is slow.... ...that's when you invest in learning how to do it better. Why? Because it's when you a) have the time b) it sets up up for success when the hiring boom returns c) it's how you stay ahead of your competition You may not know this, but based on what I'm hearing from candidates daily, your firm definitely has some room for improvement when it comes to hiring well. Consider what you're going to do about that. I'm here to help!

When the hiring team rejected their past-selves! Even the top decision-makers started out as eager newcomers once. A hiring group at a global big tech company had become known for being very picky. Each week they would meet to look at new people applying and hardly ever decided to hire anyone. They wanted to keep their standards high, but many thought they were being too tough. The company's in-house recruiter who brought people in was annoyed that so many good candidates were being turned away. They came up with a clever plan to teach the stubborn group a lesson. One week, the recruiter secretly gave the group application packets from eight people. But they didn't tell the group that these were actually their own old application packets from when the committee members had first applied at the company. After looking over the packets as usual, the group said no to all eight people, saying they didn't have enough experience or impressive backgrounds. The recruiter then told them the truth - they had just said no to hiring their past selves! They just realised how they lost touch with what it's like to be someone new trying to get a foot in the door. As we move up in our careers, we can sometimes lose perspective. Staying humble and remembering where we came from is key, no matter how high we climb. #TechRecruiting #DiversityInTech #Innovation #CareerPaths #RecruitmentLessons #NonTraditional #TalentAcquisition #ThinkOutsideTheBox #HiringSuccess #TeamDiversity

Ever hired someone only to realize they looked better on paper than in practice? It's a gamble, right? But here's my pro tip: Put them to the test. Don't just skim their portfolio. Create a task. Make it seven pages long if you have to. Why? Because you want someone who can actually do the job, not just talk about it. Trust me, it's worth the effort. Now, let's talk money. Time is currency. Pay them. It’s only fair. Stop hiring resumes. Start hiring people. Qualify them through action, and get yourself a team member who's in it for the long haul. #Hiring #HiringStrategies #Employee

What’s one benefit of skills-based hiring that hasn’t received that much attention yet? How favourably it’s viewed by candidates. 💫 A recent report by TestGorilla found that 84% of candidates view skills-based hiring as a way to prevent bias. They also found: - 90% say it's more likely to help them land them their dream job - 81% say it’s helped them gain access to new employment opportunities What does this mean for you? 👉 If you’re already doing skills-based hiring, make sure you’re telling candidates before the process. They’re more likely to view your organization as a fair and attractive place to work. 👉 If you’re not doing skills-based hiring yet, consider trying it. It doesn’t have to be a huge, organization-wide initiative. Start small. Try it with 1 team If you’d like to try it and don’t know where to start, comment below and I’ll send you my guide on how to get started in 6 easy steps! 👇

Business Manager - Tech, Data & Cyber at HorizonOne | I lead targeted recruitment campaigns which secure highly technical or executive talent
1 hiring truism to rule them all: Top candidates can tell you what they will deliver... They'll be able to detail goals, strategies, timelines, and potential challenges. Their comments are also firmly based in reality. It's not about what they blindly *hope* to deliver, but what they *will* deliver. #techjobs #executiverecruitment

I appreciate a company that is committed to change working conditions for it's current employees and not rushing them. I think for some industries (possibly most?), agility and flexibility can be much more important than speed.

Hiring decisions should take a few days. Any company taking longer than that is giving all the best talent away for no reason. The world has changed. If hiring becomes a full-time job in of itself, then something is horribly wrong. 3 month hiring processes are dead. <<<>>> ✍️ Would you enter a 3 month hiring process? ♻️ Reshare if you found this helpful.
