Nothing makes a mentor happier than to succeed in teaching someone else to mentor, that you’re sharing what you learned through your mentorship experience with others in your networks and circles. #GetAMentor #PayItForward #Learn #UpwardMovement #SummitHR https://lnkd.in/gErZDubz

🗣 Don’t ask someone to be your mentor if you are not prepared to be a mentee. 🛎 Many will agree that mentoring offers tremendous benefits. In both personal and professional lives mentoring can lead to developing new skills, gaining new knowledge, and challenging oneself to rise above our current status. The rewards and benefits are wide-ranging, and this is why seeking a mentor needs careful consideration. 🙋🏽♀️ From my experience, some people have no proper understanding of a mentor/mentee relationship and therefore do not realise the effort required to gain the benefits. 🛎 Below are a few things to consider before seeking a mentor: 🤜🏽 Time commitment: Depending on the programme or relationship, mentorship can require a range of time investments. Be sure you can dedicate the necessary time and effort. 🤜🏽 Proactive engagement: Don't wait for your mentor to reach out every time. Be proactive in scheduling meetings, proposing discussion topics, and following up on action items. 🤜🏽 Come prepared: Have specific questions, challenges, or goals in mind for each meeting. Research relevant topics beforehand and demonstrate initiative in your learning. 🤜🏽 Be open and communicative: Share your thoughts, concerns, and progress honestly. Don't be afraid to ask clarifying questions and express your needs clearly. 🤜🏽 Set realistic goals: Work with your mentor to define achievable goals and hold yourself accountable for progress. 🤜🏽 Take action: Implement the advice and suggestions offered by your mentor. Be willing to step outside your comfort zone and try new things. 🛎 Remember, a successful mentorship is a two-way street. While your mentor offers guidance and support, you play an active role in driving your own development and taking advantage of the opportunity. If you're willing to put in the effort, a mentorship can be an incredibly rewarding experience that accelerates your personal and professional growth. ________________________________ Hi, I’m Morin Carew, Founder/Director of Right Impressions Ltd. Mentoring is not teaching coaching, being a best friend or an elder (though those people may be mentors). A mentor helps us by: 1) Asking questions (but not necessarily give answers) 2) Opening a dialogue 3) Joining an exploration 4) Creating a path 5) Setting boundaries I’ve been lucky to have a few good mentors. What wisdom have you learned from mentors? How much of your current success can you attribute to the work of a mentor? https://lnkd.in/e7khfKdK #mentorship #mentor #gratitude #risinggen #familyoffices

Project Manager at LexisNexis Risk Solutions (Cirium) with expertise in Product and Software Development projects.
🌟 Stretch your goals, and your goals will stretch you 🌟 In a previous post, I mentioned that I volunteered to mentor a Year 12 sixth-form student. I am happy to share that this mentoring journey is now successfully complete, and I've grown so much from the experience. It was an inspiring and stretching goal that really challenged me to step up and push myself (alongside my job) to be more organised and intentional so I could go above and beyond in supporting my mentee to achieve their goals. My key takeaways from mentoring: 🗝 Mentoring someone is a privilege. Mentoring is not just about sharing knowledge; it's about forming a mutual connection and taking a genuine interest in someone's aspirations and growth. 🗝 It's about providing support, guidance, and encouragement, all while keeping a positive and focused intention. 🗝A mentor should listen first, be receptive and eager to learn and grow alongside their mentee. In other words, a mentor should inspire their mentee while being open to being inspired by them. For bringing this mentorship vision to life, a big thank you and s/o to: Charlene Oke (Chartered FCIPD), Christine Kinnear, With Insight Education and LexisNexis Risk Solutions. #Mentoring #StretchGoals #MakingADifference #PersonalGrowth

Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to find a mentor: Identify Your Goals and Values. Start by identifying what you want to achieve and what values are important to you. This will help you find a mentor who aligns with your goals and values. Research Potential Mentors. Look for people who have achieved what you want to achieve or who have a career path that you admire. This could be someone in your industry, a leader in a company you admire, or even a public figure. Reach Out to Potential Mentors. Once you've identified potential mentors, reach out to them. You can do this through email, social media or even in person if you have the opportunity. Be sure to express your admiration for their work and explain why you think they would be a good mentor for you. Ask for a Meeting. If they respond positively, ask for a meeting. This could be a coffee chat, a lunch meeting, or even a phone call. Use this time to get to know them better and to ask them if they would be willing to mentor you. Follow Up. After your meeting, be sure to follow up with a thank you note. This shows your appreciation and keeps the lines of communication open. Establish a Mentorship Agreement. If they agree to be your mentor, establish a mentorship agreement. This should outline the expectations for both parties, including how often you will meet, what topics you will discuss, and how long the mentorship will last. Maintain the Relationship. Once the mentorship has begun, it's important to maintain the relationship. This means showing up to meetings prepared, respecting your mentor's time, and being open to their advice and feedback. Remember, finding a mentor takes time and patience, but it can be a rewarding experience that helps you grow both personally and professionally. Good luck! #mentor #mentorship #motivation #property #propertyinvestment #propertysourcing #realestateinvesting #inspiredawesomelife #growth

Mentors are important figures in our lives. They are not just instructors and guides, but also people we can look up to, turn to in times of duress and trust at all times. In a world where everything seems uncertain and evolving at all times, mentors can be significant grounding presences and emotional anchors. However, in an age of limitless interaction thanks to technology, where everyone seems to be brimming with unrestricted responses to our lives and actions, how do we choose mentors? How do we know if the people we have chosen as or assumed to be our mentors are the right people for the elevated stature we give them? How much can the term “mentor” include? These are relevant questions that merit a probe. On the whole, finding the right mentor is like gaining a trusted ally who imparts knowledge, opens doors, and supports your growth in both professional and personal spheres. The mentor-mentee relationship is a powerful dynamic that fosters continuous learning and development. We must remember that a good mentor should be approachable, patient, and willing to share knowledge and experiences, while offering constructive feedback, setting realistic expectations, and providing guidance without imposing their own agenda. At the same time, being an honest and self-aware mentee allows you to know what you need and seek the right person. Such veracity of purpose fosters trust with your mentor, leading the mentor to provide tailored guidance, addressing your true challenges and helping you develop personally and professionally. To find the right mentors, therefore is an exercising in knowing yourself well, as well as vigilantly knowing the people around you and being dedicated to the mission of staying true to your purpose. Go ahead, know yourself and choose the best to learn from!
