The America the Beautiful for All Coalition reflects the diversity of America and centers the voices of people of color working to conserve 30% of lands, waters, and oceans by 2030. In 2024, this coalition will continue to motivate urgent action by the Biden Administration, Congress and other decision-makers in support of the coalition’s twin goals: 1) Conserving at least 30% of land, water, and ocean by 2030; and 2) Implementing a Justice40 metric for the America the Beautiful Initiative to ensure at least 40% of investments are made in communities of color and frontline communities that have historically seen little to no investment in conservation and equitable access to nature. https://zurl.co/fUfF

the Native American community in the San Francisco Bay Area: 🌉 Supporting Native American Communities in the Bay Area 🌉 The San Francisco Bay Area is home to a vibrant tapestry of cultures, including the rich heritage of Native American tribes. It’s crucial that we acknowledge and support the ongoing efforts to protect and empower these communities. Here’s how the Bay Area is making a difference: 📜 Legal Advocacy: California Indian Legal Services and the Native American Rights Fund are at the forefront, providing legal support to ensure tribal sovereignty and cultural preservation. 🎨 Cultural Enrichment: The California Native American Heritage Commission safeguards sacred sites, while local museums and cultural centers like the Oakland Museum and the California Academy of Sciences celebrate Native American history. 🩺 Healthcare Access: The Native American Health Center offers comprehensive health services, ensuring the well-being of the Native American population in San Francisco, Oakland, and Alameda. 🎓 Educational Opportunities: Bay Area Indian Education Centers and university programs at UC Berkeley and San Francisco State University provide educational support and promote Native American studies. 🤝 Community Engagement: The Intertribal Friendship House and the American Indian Child Resource Center foster community through traditional arts, education, and advocacy. 🗣️ Inclusive Policy Making: Through tribal consultation policies and advisory committee representation, Native American voices are integral in shaping policies that affect their communities. Let’s continue to support these initiatives and the reservations like Graton Rancheria and Lytton Rancheria, which serve as cultural hubs for the Coast Miwok and Southern Pomo tribes. By standing together, we can ensure the rights, culture, and well-being of Native American communities are upheld. #NativeAmericanRights #CulturalHeritage #BayAreaSupport #CommunityAdvocacy https://lnkd.in/g8nVDspi

Encompassing residences, cultural and religious institutions and family-owned shops, restaurants and other businesses, Chinatowns are steeped in memory, history, and tradition. Yet tragically, as a result of gentrification, large-scale development, displacement, xenophobia, and other factors, some of these vibrant neighborhoods have vanished, and those that remain continue to face existential threats. Chinatowns are vital communities where cultural preservation is essential, which is why the National Trust launched the America’s Chinatowns initiative to preserve these important ethnic enclaves for future generations. Visit five historic Chinatowns around the country, learn about the threats they face, and what is being done to preserve them: https://ow.ly/u3qt50PjxlB

On this day, OAR celebrates and honors all Indigenous Peoples and communities all across the country and all OAR participants and their families who are a part of these beautiful communities. Although there is so much to celebrate and be grateful for, we also want to pay our respects and take a moment to also allow room for mourning and grievances for all the ancestors, land, and culture that was taken from Indigenous Peoples and their communities due to the colonization of Indigenous peoples and their land. As a part of OAR’s Upstream efforts, we lift up the voices of all Black, Indigenous, Latine/x/o/a, Asian, and Multicultural (BILAM) people, to create a safe, harmonious community for all to live and thrive. We want to remind our community of the true meaning behind the “Thanksgiving” holiday - that it is a colonized holiday that is a reminder of the harm, violence, and repression brought upon Indigenous Peoples and the theft of their Native lands. Not just today, but every single day, we want to honor and respect all Indigenous Peoples, their ancestors, and all the contributions, culture, labor, and land that belong to these communities, and help dismantle the colonized projection of this holiday. With respect to Indigenous People’s Heritage month, here are some more accounts that you can follow in support of amplifying Indigenous People’s voices: @indigneouspeoplesmovement @indigenouswomenrising @indigenouswomenintech @indigenouswomenhike @nativelovestories @yourkinfolkz @globalindigenousnetwork @illuminative @indigenouseducators @riseindigenous @nativeorganizersalliance @rezilienceorg @decolonizemyself
