Here are some things that I think we get wrong in our increasing obsession with longevity: 1. Living a long time is not an end in itself. If it becomes the focus of your life, that is one of the worst mistakes you can make. It’s not that we shouldn’t exercise or eat well—but everyone goes through a decline. Spending your life worried about all these tiny things is a waste of time. 2. Doctors should focus more on improving health in communities where people die young rather than getting the wealthy from 90-years-old to 100-years-old. 3. We shouldn't overcomplicate straightforward advice about healthy eating or daily exercise. There is no evidence that we’re going to get another healthy decade of life by following a particular regime. It's hocus-pocus. For more of my insights, check out Dhruv Khullar’s article in The New Yorker, linked in the comments below. #healthcareonlinkedin #longevity #healthcare

Join me on the bus to better health!!! Our program is easy to follow: ❌We don’t count calories. ❌We don’t count points. ❌We don’t weigh daily. ❌We don’t do juice cleanses. ❌We don’t cut out macro nutrient groups. ❌We don’t work out like crazy. 💯We DO believe that your body can do the work naturally if given the right environment to thrive. 💯We DO believe that we create the right environment by what we put into our body and how we treat it. 💯We DO believe that you will get way farther by loving your body rather than hating it. 💯We DO believe that sacrifices are hard work will pay off if you are consistent. 💯We DO believe that there is a way to eat to achieve whatever it is you are wanting. 💯We DO believe that we know the way and it doesn’t include deprivation. 💯We BELIEVE that our program can help you. 💯I BELIEVE that if you trust me, trust the process, and give it your all you can achieve anything you want. 💯I know what’s possible; I’ve seen the results in many clients! The Well-Being Odyssey: Navigating an extra decade of life? We, Americans, are often less healthy than we could be. The CDC reports six out of ten are living with at least one chronic disease. Harvard researchers identified five lifestyle habits that reduced the risks of heart disease and cancer: 1. Eating fruits, vegetables, whole rains, unsaturated fatty acids, and limited consumption of red/processed meats, sugary drinks, trans fats, and sodium. 2. No smoking. 3. Minimum of three-and-a-half hours of moderate-to-vigorous physical activity weekly. 4. Moderate amounts of alcohol. 5. Maintaining a healthy BMI (18.5 to 24.9). Practicing all of the above from age 50 onward, extended life by over a decade compared to practicing none. These are the foundations of good self-care. Both women and men lived significantly longer than those who didn't. Remember, the mind and body are interconnected, as most of us know, our thoughts and emotions influence our well-being. True self-care programs need to extend beyond these five habits because we can’t forget our mental and spiritual well-being and more. Grab hold of your personal responsibility and take a few baby steps as you begin new practices and habits to improve your health. The ONE thing you shouldn’t bring to your 4th of July BBQ tomorrow? Stress! Would you rather spend your time second guessing every bite you put in your mouth, worrying people are judging you, avoiding the foods you love entirely, and feeling shame and guilt when you decide to indulge? Imagine being 7 years old having to read food labels and trying to pronounce, "car-a-geen-nan" or "mono-sodium gluta-mate." This was every shopping trip with my mom. As a single mother raising 4 kids on food stamps in the 70s, it wasn't easy. But she kept health and educating us about health at the top of the priority list for her family. Everyone called her a "health nut." ...a name she wore proudly! 👩⚕️ Things I learned from my mom: 🍏 Nutritional Wisdom: The art of mindful eating and decoding food labels. 🏋️♀️ Move Well: Embrace diverse physical activities for longevity. 🧘♀️ Mind-Body Connection: Foster mental and emotional balance for resilience. 🌱 Sustainable Habits: Cultivate lasting lifestyle changes for a thriving health span. I invite you to create your own health journey that leaves a lasting legacy of vitality and well-being for future generations. What did you learn from your mom about health? This is a trigger warning for all the adults! Especially if you are someone who keeps ignoring your health. I recently learned about a deeply saddening real-life incident that compels me to share a crucial message about our #health A 𝟑𝟔-𝐲𝐞𝐚𝐫-𝐨𝐥𝐝 𝐠𝐮𝐲, enjoying a vacation, faced a sudden health crisis. He hurried back to his room, and later underwent angioplasty,& against medical advice, suffered a fatal heart attack when he walked to the washroom & died on the spot. This heartbreak hit hard - the body arrived & was cremated on his wife's birthday. She, 5 months pregnant with a 3-4 years old daughter, felt the weight of this loss deeply. Life's highs and lows collided, leaving her shattered. 𝐓𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐡𝐢𝐭𝐬 𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐝, 𝐝𝐨𝐞𝐬𝐧'𝐭 𝐢𝐭? It's a stark reminder that our health is a treasure we often take for granted. So, how can we be more proactive? Here are a few simple steps for your consideration: - 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦 𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐋𝐢𝐟𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐲𝐥𝐞: Start by making healthy food choices for you and your family. Track what you dump in your body as these plays a major role on your body's health. - 𝐑𝐞𝐠𝐮𝐥𝐚𝐫 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡 𝐂𝐡𝐞𝐜𝐤-𝐮𝐩𝐬:Every six months, make it a family affair. Get comprehensive health check-ups for all the adults. - 𝐅𝐚𝐦𝐢𝐥𝐲 𝐖𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐒𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬: Embrace joint family yoga or exercise sessions. A healthy body contributes to a healthy life. 𝐈𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐬𝐞 𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐬 𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐦𝐚𝐤𝐞 𝐚 𝐬𝐢𝐠𝐧𝐢𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐝𝐢𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞. 🌿 A heartfelt shout-out to an incredible content creator, Revant Himatsingka (Food Pharmer), who's on a mission to promote healthy eating. He's actively challenging companies pushing junk food. Having more advocates like him could have prevented many incidents. It's never too late to make positive changes & Revant Himatsingka (Food Pharmer) is a true blessing to the world. 🙌 #FoodSystemsTransformation #Leadership #ImpactfulChange #nutrition #healthyfoodchoices #healthyfood #healthcare #lifestyle #foodasmedicine
