Today’s figures show we are making headway towards our goal to cut waiting lists.       ❤️🩹 The overall waiting list has dropped by almost 200,000 in the last 5 months    🧑⚕️ One and a half year waits for treatment are now the lowest since the pandemic    🚑 Ambulance and 4-hour A&E waits have improved significantly over the last year       I know there is still work to do but this shows what the NHS can do for patients.     With the hard work of our brilliant NHS staff and our investment into innovations like Community Diagnostic Centres, which help get patients the care they need quicker, we can cut waiting lists.         We promised to have CDCs rolled out in 160 sites by March 2025 to diagnose illnesses like cancer and heart disease quicker, and we’ve already hit that milestone – nearly a whole year ahead of schedule.          With innovations like this and record staff in the NHS we’ll continue to make positive progress on cutting waiting lists. American Kidney Fund Posters Presented https://lnkd.in/erdvdZ6C The American Kidney Fund was proud to present three posters at last week’s NKF clinical meetings. These posters highlight some of the important work that AKF is doing to support patients: 1) patients on dialysis who have lower incomes have a high level of interest and want more information on how to get on the kidney transplant list; 2) between 2019 – 2022, AKF provided financial assistance enabling almost 7,000 patients to receive a kidney transplant and the proportion of these 7,000 patients who are African American and Hispanic, groups that tend to have a lower transplant rate, was much higher than their proportion in the general population of end stage kidney disease patients receiving transplants; 3.) AKF focus groups show that many patients do not have sufficient information about how to manage hyperkalemia (high potassium), which is often experienced by people with chronic kidney disease, and AKF has developed a patient-friendly guide to help patients better understand and manage the condition.
