I have received some lovely feedback lately. We apparently have broken a record for a new client developer on how quickly we can get exchanges through and actually meet the 28 day reservation period. Also, one of our major clients has referred family and friends to us as they ‘would not use anyone else’. Tip of the Week: Stay accountable! Create a plan for success and stay accountable. Many new agents start their careers with a lot of hope and excitement but don’t have a road map to reach their goals. Create a clear and detailed plan for how you will be successful. Set goals, make a list of things you need to learn, develop a strategy for attracting clients, find a good contact management app, and create a follow-up system. At Skyline we can help you with all these things and so much more!

This past year has been a radical learning experience in my business life. Makers was built on professional services foundations that I had grown up in. We applied those principles to create a unique ownable position of Producer-Led/Producer-Direct model and scaled it to multiple markets. Not easy (fear inducing at points) but I knew the basic math/the cadence/the circadian rhythm. We then have layered on producing in the Entertainment/Original Content space which I think flippantly I thought "no big deal" - just a slight shift. Until I realized I had to learn a whole new way of business from the ground up. It has been humbling. It's been a journey. And now we bringing both areas of producing - commercial and entertainment/IP creation - the much needed technology underpinning to actually make producers lives and the productions we oversee smarter. It's awesome to build a backbone of project management/financial/resourcing tools. And yet again we said easy, let's do it. And yet again once I got into it and fumbled around/knocked over stuff/annoyed the team with unrealistic expectations - I had to shut up and start just listening/reading/watching/playing and mostly just trusting the journey. These things are expensive to explore. They scare the shit out of me. It requires really tough choices at times. I still have so so much to learn. The hours got much longer. But the people working on this at Makers are very awesome and I'm excited to create a future focused organization with them. Kudos Sumit Ajwani for the vision. Patrick Elia for taking the reigns and being the unique leader we needed for Makers Products Team. And for Andrew Giles Bryan Han Joel Krigström and Sam Hall for all your efforts to date getting us going on this. We're closer today than we were yesterday to tomorrow because of you.
