In my experience as a patient, as well as in my experience as a professional, I know it can feel very hard to feel heard, especially when raising a concern about your or a loved one's care.

High-quality care recognises patients, families and carers as equal partners.
When NHS staff are exhausted from working under unsustainable pressure, patients and their families and carers can find it even harder to make themselves heard. Understaffed hospitals wards and overwhelmed GP telephone lines do not provide the best environment for listening to people, nor for safe, compassionate care.
Listening when things go wrong is the very least patients should expect. To truly realise the potential of patients as partners in safety will require bringing them (or, rather, us) into every stage of designing, delivering and reflecting on care.

It's ok to not be ok! And there are silver-lining strategies to help you navigate it.
There are days when our job demands us to show up, even when we're not at our best. Be patient with yourself, practice self-care, and remember that your well-being matters.
