𝐌𝐞𝐞𝐭 Paul van Vulpen, 𝐆𝐚𝐦𝐞 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐦𝐦𝐞𝐫 𝐚𝐭 𝐂𝐮𝐥𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐍𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐡. 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐢𝐧𝐬𝐩𝐢𝐫𝐞𝐝 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐭𝐨 𝐩𝐮𝐫𝐬𝐮𝐞 𝐚 𝐜𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐫 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐠𝐚𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐲? I never intended to work in games, but once in, there is no escape. Making games is exciting as it poses challenges in nearly all domains of software engineering. Additionally, it's one of the few fields where using the product is as exciting as building it. 𝐇𝐨𝐰 𝐰𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐝𝐞𝐬𝐜𝐫𝐢𝐛𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐜𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐚𝐭 𝐂𝐮𝐥𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐍𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐡? I've only just joined a few weeks ago, but it was super easy to integrate. Not only have people been very welcoming, but it's also proven to be a truly flat organization: I find it as easy to talk to the CEO as it is to talk to my fellow engineers. Though it's partly expected in a small company, I feel my input is valued, and we have the mandate to do what we feel is best for the product. I'm having fun; the days fly by! 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭'𝐬 𝐧𝐞𝐱𝐭 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐚𝐭 𝐂𝐮𝐥𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐍𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐡? I have been hooked on playing Project Gundalf since the first playtest, and there is a lot left to be built and improved. In my previous post on the 1st of June, I posted that I received an internship offer from Prodigy Infotech. The first project I worked on was creating a nice looking and functional stopwatch using HTML, CSS, and Java. It took me around 2 days to complete this project, at first I was facing difficulties with the javascript timing function, how to update the display of the stopwatch when it starts and stops and managing DOM elements like updating the display, creating and appending list items for laps, and handling button clicks. Also, I faced problems at writing a function to format the time correctly, including padding numbers and handling milliseconds, seconds, minutes, and hours. After repeatedly making numerous mistakes and taking the help of the internet, I finally completed my first project. Below you guys can see the result https://lnkd.in/gv6tRga3
