Randi Braun: I really enjoyed hearing and meeting you! You delivered engaging and actionable insights. One myth you shared that really resonated for me was: "If I was more productive, I could get it all done." As women, we are so hard on ourselves. Let's give ourselves some grace. As someone who recently shifted from full-time corporate life (aka retired), I've realized I'd created a cycle of setting unrealistic expectations on myself and wearing myself out. This had to have a trickle-down effect on those around me. This led to me to reflecting on how this cycle impacted me as a leader, and whether I was creating an environment that reinforced this myth. One potential contributor can be the all too familiar words: "Do as I say, not as I do" (i.e. working long hours, answering emails and taking calls on weekends and vacation). I certainly have done that in the past. And sometimes there is a need for flexibility to handle urgent situations. But how could I have set a better example? I am taking these learnings and reflections forward as I chart my next chapter. Thanks again for a great talk at World Trade Center Institute Women Spanning the Globe, Randi (and also for the personal time we shared after lunch).
