The most commonly used physical method is mechanical crushing. Generally, the laminates are first divided into small pieces through shear machines, and then the small pieces are crushed by blade rotor crushers to obtain material fragments, particles or powders with different size distributions. Due to the large viscoelasticity of EVA, the crusher needs to apply sufficient shear force, and generally requires multi-stage crushing, such as primary crushing, secondary fine crushing, and tertiary grinding. Due to the difference in physical properties of glass, silicon, silver, copper, adhesive film, and backboard, the composition of the crushed products with different size distributions is different. The encapsulant with large viscoelasticity is crushed into larger fragments, and brittle silicon, silver, etc. are easily ground into powder. I would like to share with you my latest publication. The impact of water on the processing and performance of LCO/LLZTO composite cathodes in solid-state lithium batteries was elucidated, and the mitigating strategy was developed to achieve high-capacity solid-state lithium batteries. To fabricate ceramic composite cathodes LiCoO2–Li6.6La3Zr1.6Ta0.4O12 (LCO-LLZTO) on an industrial scale, a water-based tape-casting process was developed, which is scalable and environmentally friendly. Additionally, the cosintering behavior of the two materials, often leading to poor electrochemical performance, was optimized via a Li2O-rich atmosphere. The resulting dense, free-standing, and phase-pure LCO-LLZTO mixed cathodes were assembled into full cells using a dual-layer solid polymer-ceramic separator and an In–Li anode. These cells show very high utilization rates for LCO of approximately 90% at a high areal capacity of over 3 mAh cm–2, demonstrating the potential of water-based tape-casting for a scalable and sustainable manufacturing of oxide-ceramic based solid-state Li batteries. #batteries #solidstatebatteries #energystorage #electrochemistry #garnet #ceramics #sustainability #batteryproduction
