Meet Heather! When she started, she wasn’t looking for a full-time job. However, Heather felt drawn to our supportive culture, the dynamic activity in our warehouses, and the people she worked with. She says that joining The Home Depot is one of the best decisions she has made.
“I love the atmosphere, the people, and the culture. Everyone is supportive and respectful of each other.”
We are thankful to have associates like Heather join our team and help shape the culture in our warehouses.

Ive worked for this company. Hands down the WORST job ive ever had. However, I feel my experience was a location based issue. As long as youre not in the Bakersfield area, your experience might be better than my own.
Today marks three weeks since my layoff from Staples Business Advantage. The emotions brought on by losing such a long-time anchor in my life have given me a new perspective on what "work-life balance" means.
While employed, I thought it was the need to remember that the weekends aren't just for catching up on work, and that when my daughter comes home from college, it's okay to take a day off to be with her.
But now, reflecting on all that I have done in my career and all that I would bring to a new position, I also realize that I am always balancing what I have learned professionally with who I am personally. The guilt and worry I feel from leaving work undone and projects not finished is the same part of me that always works hard to do my best and never wants to let someone down.
Although I realize this isn't a new concept, it has been eye-opening for me. I am finding this time of self-reflection interesting.
I don't know exactly where my path will lead me, but looking back I guess I never really knew for sure where it was going. And that's okay, because wherever I go, I know I bring a balanced package of skills, traits, experiences, passions, and knowledge with me.
So you found yourself in an existential crisis as your job is no longer available?
So sorry about that! But also so glad about it!
Sometimes we need a crisis to kick us out of our tracks, and “motivate” us to look up and look around.
A job crisis like this helps us realize that we’re so much more than our work! That we were not born to just be the wheel in the corporate world we are so desperately trying to be. And that there is so much more to life than (paid) work.
During the pandemia i got stuck in Europe for 6 months and was without a job. It was shocking at first, but with time more and more beautiful and eye opening!!!
I realized how wonderful (in the literal sense: full of miracles) it is to be able to do what needs to be done, rather than what i ought to do to make money!
I also realized, that retiring in Panama is possible right away, due to low cost of living and the highly affordable real estate there; while i would have to continue to work 10 more years to retire in the US.
So now I’m living happily in Santa Catalina, Veraguas (a fishing village turned surfers’ paradise).
Aside of not having to endure any more cold winters, nor office politics, nor the danger of getting shot at the next mass shooting, i am now able to focus on fulfilling my purpose in this world and being the change-agent i was born and shaped to be.
We humans are no longer system perpetuators, like all the animals and plants. We are the changers! Through us this world continues to change and develop.
Yes, we still have to do our “animal-duties” to survive and exist in this system.
So, yes, we need to work and make money to survive, support our children, save for when we can no longer work. And our talents and passion, our knowledge and awarenesses, and our life-experiences that shape us, all enable us to get a demanding but well paid job.
But, there are also many tasks that need to be done in this world, that do not get paid in money. These are up to be tackled by us lucky ones, who had a well paid job for many years.
I am convinced that for many (if not most) of us the work we do in the corporate world is not our life’s purpose, is not the reason why we came into this world. Rather, it allows us to get to the point where we can stop focusing on animal tasks, and dedicate our lives to “higher causes”.
Unfortunately, too many continue with the animal-chores for way too long, and never get to make their real contribution to this creation. They hord money and status until they die or alzheimers releases them by force...
So you found yourself in an existential crisis as your job is no longer available?
So sorry about that! But also so glad about it!
I wish you much success in reevaluating your life, identifying your passion, figuring out your life’s real purpose, and becoming the change-agent your soul was hoping to be in this world when it chose to incarnate in you!

Last week, I mentioned that I often go weeks here and there without posting. I even received few caring msges, asking if I was ok!!!
Well...one of the perk of working at TJX is having a great work-life balance. AND, I am all about making the best of that.
So, today, I am sharing with you one of my biggest life goals. The life goal is for me to travel to 40 different countries by the time I turn 40.
NOW, you know where I disappeared every now and then! I am traveling to achieve that life goal.
Few years ago, I shared this life goal with my DM. I thought I would get criticized. Instead I got encouraged by previous and current DM. Infact, this has now become a intro line to any convo with any business partner. " Which # are we on now, Farzana?"
When I shared with my AVP my life goal, I think I received the best reply " looks like, we will be receiving phone calls from the termac this year."
Now, you know why I have stayed with TJX for 20+ years? Not only career growth opportunity, but the support for personal growth as well. I never felt so supported. At this point, I believe almost half my central people know about my crazy travel life. So, when you do not see posts for a little while from me, chances are I am in a different continent on a different time zone.
And, without any more suspense... I would like to share that I just completed my country #39 two weeks ago. And my 40th country will be this year on my 40th birthday. STAY TUNED ;)
I couldn't have been more happy to work with a group of people where you can be yourself.
This is our culture, and this is a true example of our lives at TJX.

It's ONE YEAR today since we left (out grew) our first home, Seesy Towers the Riverside gaff, heading up to the bright lights & pricey coffees of Shoreditch!..
➡ 'How it started' - Limehouse (photos below): with the marina round the corner, THE river out back & those views from the gates.
➡ 'How its going' - Shoreditch: Brick Lane on one doorstep, Spitalfields the other, to be fair the views are hardly Insta-worthy here but who needs that with the aforementioned.
➡ 'What next' - Wait & see..
A Year in Seesy Shoreditch can be plotted against a similar trajectory to that of my one year old at home.
There were early moments of running before we could walk & definitely the odd bit of falling upon our bottoms here & there, maybe not the quivering bottom lips, but at times the tantrums they were a simmering..
BUT just like my little lad, there were milestones & achievements aplenty. There was learning, there was hunger (lots & lots of hunger!) & above all there was & there is success, there is growth!..
A heartfelt THANK YOU to all of our Seesy users, hiring managers & candidates alike. Those pioneers that have been with us since the BETA testing days by the river to the international hiring community that surround us now, you built this!

Meet Phil, our Director of Human Resources. Fun Fact: If you look at synonyms for "Servant Leader", Phil Coakley comes up as the first result! Since his start at Trendsetter Homes, he has undertaken so many projects that have greatly improved the culture of the company and the lives of every employee. Our team would not be the same without him!
Q: How long have you been working at Trendsetter Homes?
A: I have been here for almost 2 years
Q: What do you enjoy most about working at Trendsetter Homes?
A: This is the only place I've ever worked that truly lives up to the culture that they portray. When I came in to interview for the job, they pushed the culture hard and used it to sell me on the position. I went home thinking that if it was HALF as good as they portrayed in the interview that this was going to be a great place. About 3 months into working here, I let Ryan know that they actually undersold the culture. It's far better than they were telling me.
Q: If you could be an expert at anything, what would it be?
A: I would be an expert at flawlessly understanding what an individual needs, at any given time, before they ask. I'd love to be able to help everyone with what they need before they ask.
Q: What has been the most memorable experience you’ve had while working here?
A: My first Chili Cookoff. It was about a month after I started here and I assumed that it would be like any other cookoff I've been to. I couldn't have been more wrong! People decorated tables, had costumes, and were actively campaigning for their chili. It's where I first realized that this was the best, most competitive place I could ever work.
Q: How do you enjoy spending your time outside of work?
A: Hunting, fishing, mowing the yard, watching baseball and enjoying a frosty beverage!

Some candidates come and go, but many return time and time again. And no, it’s not because they’ve failed in any way - it’s because they have conscientious employers who know that training is not just a must-have, it can be lifesaving!
Or maybe its Phill quirky character that they can't resist.
Much of our business over the past 20 years has come from partnerships with local businesses, who have trusted Lowe Maintenance with what we believe to be one of the most important jobs (but maybe we’re biased!).
Either way, we couldn’t be more thankful to be trusted with such important work.

This past month I celebrated 2 years at Robert Half.
2 years ago I needed a change, wanted to branch out and do something different and I needed to provide for my family (coming off of my 2nd maternity leave).
I had ZERO experience in recruiting.
I had ZERO experience in finance/accounting.
But some how, some way - I got the job.
It has been 2 years of learning daily, building relationships and truly enjoying my job (yes there are MANY days I am so busy, stressed and wish I could multiply myself; so I could get everything done ASAP) but most days I get to meet/interview incredible people looking for jobs, check out amazing local businesses in Winnipeg and help the two of them meet and it ends up being a success.
When I visit an office and get a tour of the entire place, meet the staff and get to check out the warehouse and see how/what they do with my own eyes - it's the highlight of my day.
When I meet someone who just moved to Winnipeg this year and they are looking for a job and I help them - that is the reason I do, what I do.
If we have worked together these past 2 years, thank you for trusting me with your staffing needs. Thank you for taking the time to meet with my candidates and chatting with me about work, parenthood and everything in-between.
If you have come to me & trusted me with your job search, thank you. It has been a pleasure getting to know you and hopefully helping you.
It's been a great 2 years and can't wait to see what's instore for the next 2!

Are you looking for the good or are you looking for the bad. With everything we do we can find things that aren’t going right. Things that don’t go the way we want it to. It can be the company you are at, job you are in. It can be the people you have around you.
I went so far as to job hop. Every 1.5 to 2 years it was a new job. Chase the title. It wasn’t until someone helped me make the choice to stop that my world changed. So many do the same thing. Question is, if that’s the constant, what’s the common denominator? I now know that was me. Is it you?
