This was an excellent webinar that I would highly recommend watching if you are in a school or district that is; struggling with the implementation of behavioral programs, wish to understand why restorative practices are important, or would like to gain insight into how to successfully implement programs through first-hand accounts (all supported by evidence). Additionally, I would like to highlight where the discussion turns to a lack of resources. Improper implementation is an important factor in not receiving results when using restorative practices in programs such as the PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports). The lack of resources may vary by location, district, or state. How do we build access to resources for our public school system so they can facilitate and execute these methods properly for the betterment of society becomes the question.
ICYMI: Last month, Sarah Klevan presented at a webinar hosted by LPI with AASA, The School Superintendents Association and Education Commission of the States that explored how restorative practices can foster safe and supportive school communities. "A new study from the National Alliance for Public Charter Schools finds that, across the country, enrollment in traditional district schools is down 3% (1.5 million students) while enrollment in public charter schools is up 9% (300,000 students). Many people thought the flight from district schools was a pandemic anomaly and that students would return. They didn’t." To minimise any disruption, all education settings with confirmed RAAC will be supported by a dedicated caseworker to help them through any necessary changes. The Government has decided to close more than 100 education buildings that have been built using concrete prone to collapse. The impact of RAAC is varied – some settings may have very little RAAC present with limited disruption as a result. For example, this change in approach could lead to the temporary closure of one school space, like a single classroom. In most cases, children will be able to continue attending school as normal. #parents #schools #students #education #RAAC

#Headteachers, #schoolleaders, proprietors, governors, trustees of #independentschools that are inspected by Ofsted Have you read it yet? The inspection handbook? It was updated again on the 5th of April! We thought we'd remind you. As usual there is a summary of changes: https://bit.ly/4aEmXAO But it is only useful if you read the details of each change in the handbook here: https://bit.ly/3LRBbnV If you have not read about the changes yet, please do so. If you have never read the handbook in its entirety, make the time - it is essential reading if you want to know what to expect during standard Ofsted inspections of independent schools.
