How can we create more inclusive and diverse environments in our personal lives and the workplace? It is all about intention. I write and speak a lot about intention and it is something that we can choose. In our personal lives, the most important thing is to reflect - often, if necessary - on our relationship with and behaviour towards the people who matter most to us. We may need to observe and adjust our thoughts and feelings to make sure we are aligned with our higher selves…. The above words are part of a Pride Month post I was asked to write by one of my publishers. Here is the full article, if you’re interested: https://lnkd.in/eMP5gBnB Now that Pride is “behind us”, are you still committed to supporting the LGBTQ+ community, for the long term? You make a difference every day and I appreciate you. #inclusiveleadership #lgbtq #pridemonth #intention #diversity

🌈 Celebrating Pride Month at GS As we kick off Pride Month, it's crucial to recognise both the strides society has made and the ongoing challenges for the LGBTQ+ community globally and here in the UK. Globally, the top challenges include: · Discrimination and Violence: Daily threats to safety and well-being. · Legal Inequality: Many countries still lack legal protections for LGBTQ+ rights, with some even criminalising same-sex relationships. · Healthcare Disparities: Significant barriers to accessing appropriate healthcare. In the UK: While the UK has made significant progress since decriminalising homosexuality in 1967, challenges remain, particularly around trans rights and the rise in hate crimes. Higher rates of mental health issues persist due to discrimination and stigma, with the Black LGBTQ+ community facing even greater disparities. Disabled members of the LGBTQ+ community face unique barriers in accessing mental health services, compounding their marginalisation. Allyship and Advocacy: Pride Month is a time to celebrate, but also to ally with the LGBTQ+ community. Public sector leaders hold immense power in shaping societal norms, thus advocating for LGBTQ+ rights. Their allyship sends a strong message of acceptance and inclusion, fostering empathy and encouraging positive changes in policies and legislation. This Pride Month, GS is thrilled to release a series of interviews with inspiring LGBTQ+ societal leaders. Their insights will guide us in building a more inclusive and supportive society. It has been a pleasure to amplify their voices, so please look out for them! Happy Pride!! #PrideMonth #LGBTQ #EDI #DEI #Equality #Inclusion #Allyship #HappyPrideMonth #PrideatGS
"You can't be what you can't see." - Our LGBTQ+ affinity group co-chair, David Ward, articulates exactly what inclusivity means to us at GatenbySanderson. And while we are looking forward to celebrating #Pride this month - honouring the LGBTQ+ community within our organisation and the various public sectors we work across - we also recognise the ongoing journey toward equity needed. Which is why we will be sharing some incredible conversations with LGBTQ+ leaders across the Education, Not for Profit and Public Sector. Leaders who are sharing the journey they've been on personally in their careers, their motivations and strategies in dealing with any barriers and life under the spotlight. Plus, what they and their organisations are doing to foster inclusivity. Check out the full list of interviews, plus links to previous Pride profiles here: https://lnkd.in/eQ9pKkEg We hope that you're inspired by these conversations and they help to amplify actions and ideas that will contribute to positive change. #pridemonth #lgbtq #inclusivity #D&I #Leadership

As a creator, when the platform you work on reaches out to share your work, it's usually a reason for celebration. LinkedIn News spotlighted some of my posts for Pride month, awesome right?! But also, as anyone with an internet presence will know, larger reach means more chances that someone may decide to attack your work, especially if you are a member of, or posting about, marginalised communities. Why am I sharing these divisive, angry and frankly untrue comments? Because they remind us of why LGBTQ+ Pride exists. Because this, right here, are the attitudes and ideas which populate parts of the world so readily that those who hold them feel no need to restrain or question the harm they are causing. We have to do better, and we have to keep going. #DEI #PrideMonth #LGBTQ #Pride2024

Happy Pride Month! 🌈 Today marks the start of a month long celebration of LGBTQ+ identities, history, and achievements. You might notice companies updating their logos with rainbow colors (PG does not have a pride logo) to show support. In this video, we explore a critical issue many LGBTQ+ job seekers face: being told they're not a "cultural fit." We discuss how this affects the LGBTQ+ community and what true inclusivity should entail. Let's make sure our support is more than just a logo change—it's a commitment to real change. Check out the video below to learn more about how we can move from symbolic support to substantial action. #PrideMonth #LGBTQ #Inclusion #Diversity #CulturalFit #Belonging #LGBTQIA2S #InclusiveCulture #InclusiveWorkplace

"Accidental Exclusion by Inclusion" is a common occurrence we witness, when it comes to showcasing being an inclusive organisation. This is especially common when it comes to inclusion of LGBTQ+ folx. While the actions are often well intentioned and positive, certain words, behaviors can end up having the opposite result; rather than making them feel included or appreciated, it makes them feel tokenized and / or singled out. In this video, we delve into the concept of "Accidental Exclusion by Inclusion" through a real-life example. Watch it to see how you can avoid it from subtly manifesting at your workplace too. Have you witnessed something similar or have been on the receiving end of such situations? Would love to hear them. If you have any tips on dealing with them, do share those as well. #ReLink #TowardsInclusion #LGBTQ #PrideMonth #Pride2024 #DEI #diversity #Equity #inclusion #LGBTQplus

June is an awareness month of visibility, acceptance, and celebrating diversity. #Pride is a reminder of a huge turning point for LGBTQ+ rights and a chance to be thankful for the trailblazers who paved the way for changes all those years ago. 🙏 "The benefit of standing up for your rights is that others see you standing up - and then stand shoulder to shoulder with you." When it comes to creating positive, inclusive cultures, we know that it's more than just rainbow logos; it's about fostering genuine acceptance, implementing inclusive policies, providing education and support, and actively challenging discrimination to ensure everyone feels valued and respected year-round. That’s why we’ve dipped into #GECKnowHow, the biggest collection of DEI resources* - for everyone, to highlight brilliant books, popular podcasts and fantastic films for Pride month and beyond: https://lnkd.in/egSCfpuj #bookrecommenations #DEI #diversity #inclusion #equality #LGBTQ+ #representationmatters #InclusionRevolution #pridemonth *we’re pretty sure it is

There are few corporate initiatives as important as creating diverse, equitable, and inclusive spaces for the LGBTQ+ community. According to EY, Gen Z is six times more likely to identify as LGBTQ+ compared to Gen X, and with Gen Z making up 30% of the workforce by 2030, this underscores the growing necessity for inclusive policies in the workplace. While we celebrate and uplift the progress that has been made over the past few decades, we simultaneously acknowledge that we as a society have a long way to go in ensuring that every workplace embraces diversity, promotes equity, and empowers all individuals. Our work in this space inspires deep hope for what's to come. We see the tides of change growing stronger each and every year as forward-looking organizations take bold steps towards a future that celebrates everyone. #IgnitingBoldFutures #Inclusivity #PRIDE #LGBTQ

Continuing the conversation about staff networks and allyship… wearing your rainbow lanyard is more than a fashion statement (it is much prettier than the boring plain ones too)! 🌈 They actually are a visible signal to your colleagues and a powerful gesture that you are an ally. It also is important for organisations to offer rainbow lanyards to show and demonstrate they are inclusive employers. The rainbow lanyard demonstrates you are a colleague who is open and safe for LGBTQ+ colleagues. Who is an ally and showing visible support towards this. It’s giving permission for colleagues to be themselves with you. It can also demonstrate an understanding of hardship for the community and that you are willing to make a stand with and for them. It might seem like a small gesture but it makes a huge difference. Wear your rainbow lanyards with PRIDE 🌈 #rainbowlanyard #diversity #inclusion #lgbtqia #lgbt #staffnetworks

🏳️⚧️ Here's How To Make An Employee's Transition Easier >> A crucial part of creating your company’s diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) strategy is to make sure LGBTQ+ employees and job candidates know they are seen and supported. Best practice is to have a robust policy in place, and then work together with individuals to write a personal plan that works for them. Our article, with links to legal advice and frameworks, will help you make a more inclusive environment for people who are transgender in the workplace. #LGBTQ #TransRights #Pride2024 https://lnkd.in/eCY3ErBj
