Accidental Foreign Nurse Lifeguard - 1 saved life at a time | 18 yrs Travel nurse | Mentor WORK SMART NOT HARD | Investor | Philanthropist | Mixologist | Drone Pilot | enjoying life at its best
I randomly saw this investigative journalism months ago about Nursing Homes in the US. Out of curiosity, I tried to check the nursing home I worked when I first arrived in the US who gave me all these "we'll train you, preceptor, tons of assistance, etc". Nothing happened. It was "L". (serious harms in many occassion) I quit on the 5th day as I can see myself losing my license instantly every single shift. As an admin of the biggest International nursing workforce in Facebook, I posted it in the group and encouraged all foreign nurses to make INFORMED DECISION. I encourage them to see if those mentioned situation were "acceptable for them" before taking the job. Some said "I don't want to be there". While a lot said "It's ok for me as this is similar in my workplace outside US. I can manage it". Some said "I have no experience but will use it as a stepping stone". I encourage them to share their tipping point too. After going through 50+ of these nurses, there is 1 clear picture here. TRANSPARENCY. Not all foreign workforce are "desperate". Not all foreign workforce have the same risk tolerance. Not all foreign workforce have the same goal. Not all foreign workforce have the same mental strength. MY RECOMMENDATION If they ask about the ratio, tell them 3 DIFFERENT SCENARIOS-- 1) The best staffing day scenario 2) The average staffing day scenario 3) The worse staffing day scenario (including the possibility of delayed relief or extended working hours). Day off request granted or not rating. Just be upfront. Because someone (quite a lot of them really) will still take the job. Stop sugarcoating when hiring. Your role as a professional nurse hiring manager is to create a team that is built from a strong foundation of TRUST. The success of the team will start from you as the hiring manager. At the end of the day, no one will act on the best interest of your successful team, except your own self. #informedDecisionWillMakeLifeEasierToBOTHSides

Emergency situations allow the governor to allow out-of-state physicians to practice in a state where patients aren't getting adequate access. The question is whether a particular zip code in a particular state lacks access and if that state could attract physicians to that area with such emergency authorizations. ● Assist physicians to grow in their careers ● Provide administrative assistance ● Protect against frivolous malpractice suits ● Offer cultural growth opportunities ● Help with relocation and transportation https://lnkd.in/dmcvhfe4
