The John F. Hosner Distinguished Lecture Endowment will bring leading voices to CNRE while celebrating the legacy of the college's honorary founding dean. “The camaraderie in the college is priceless, and it’s something that John would celebrate,” said Tenna Hosner, John Hosner's wife of more than forty years, and the donor who is funding the lectureship. “I remember the pride he took in bringing to the campus speakers who could speak not only to the academic community, but to the citizens in Blacksburg as well. I look forward to hearing the first speaker.” Read about Professor Emeritus John Hosner's commitment to the field of natural resources, the the role he played in founding the college, and how the new lectureship will elevate the college while carrying his legacy forward to a new generation: https://lnkd.in/es-d99g6

Approved by the HT Board of Trustees, the plan, titled “From First to Foremost: Huston-Tillotson University 2024-2034,” is the culmination of an inclusive process that spanned several months and included the gathering of input from representatives of several key stakeholder groups, including students, faculty, staff, alumni, donors, community and business leaders and local elected officials. “Our 10-year plan establishes a clear, long-term vision for HT,” said Melva K. I’ll be joining a much more illustrious panel next week to talk about evidence in educational research and policy. For anyone in teacher education, evidence should underpin everything we do and teach. But what counts as evidence, when it’s enough, and how it should be applied are live (exciting, fun) questions. Cohosted by AARE, ATEA, and ACDE :)
Please join us for an online forum and panel discussion 'What counts as evidence in teacher education research and policy?" You are invited to an online discussion among a panel of education research experts bringing different views and experiences to these and many other questions. Panel presentations will be followed by an audience Q&A. jointly hosted by AARE, ATEA and ACDE Wednesday May 15, 5.00-6.30pm. Our panellists are: • Penny Van Bergen , Professor of Educational Psychology and Head of School, Education, University of Wollongong • Jenny Gore, Laureate Professor and Director of Teaching and Teacher Research Centre, University of Newcastle • Sam Sellar, Professor of Education Policy, Dean of Research- Education Futures, University of South Australia • Matthew Clarke, Professor of Education, University of Aberdeen For more information on this event and to register visit the AARE website. https://loom.ly/pRuNGrE
