Fundraise with us! 🥳 This month, we're asking a bold question: What if we could stop international human trafficking for just one day? Despite the lack of comprehensive data, estimates suggest up to 800,000 individuals are trafficked across international borders annually—that’s 2,191 people every single day. To protect these potential victims, we need to raise $438,200 this May. We know this ambitious goal is possible, but we need your help! We encourage everyone to get creative with fundraising. Whether you’re an individual, a community group, or a business, you can make a significant impact! Here are a few ways you can get involved: 1. Run a race: Sign up for a local 5k, 10k, marathon––whatever your level––tell people that you are running to fight human trafficking and ask them to sponsor you. Or host your own race and get people to run with you! 2. Host a dinner party: See if you can get food donated and sell tickets to fundraise! Then, share your heart for anti-trafficking to raise awareness at the event. 3. Host a house concert: Are you a musician or have musician friends? Guys - we did a thing! Our Crowdfunder UK is now live and you can get involved in so many ways - it's not all about the money money money (but if you have some to donate then we'd be ridiculously grateful). Please take a few minutes to have a look at our new project and if you can share to your networks then that would be awesome. Since we visited the Kasbah at one of the Spark Grimsby creative networking events, we knew that we wanted to create a space there - it felt like somewhere that suited creatives, a place with so much history and so much potential. The works that have been carried out down there so far by WE1 Group are nothing short of amazing and watching dilapidated buildings being bought back to life is heartwarming. As a Grimsby girl, my family's history can be traced back to Grimsby Docks. We had trawler skippers and lumpers in the family, and also sad stories of just how dangerous the fishing industry was, Great Uncle Jack was lost at sea after the Preston North End sunk off Iceland after hitting rocks. Being able to form a creative space, where we can host workshops and develop our own making practices has been something that has felt for so long as being just a step too far, but from March 1st becomes a reality. It's a big ask, and we know that times are hard for some people right now but we also know that there are people and businesses out there who could help - all the funds that are raised from this Crowdfunder will go right back into the workshop - this means that we can develop new sessions and guarantee our space there for as long as possible. We'll be hosting free workshop days along with the usual paid for workshops as our way of giving back. We know all too well that there are many people who are still feeling the effects of the pandemic, and for who loneliness is a very serious problem. Crafting allows people to come together, to forget for an amount of time about everything else that they might have going on and has huge benefits for people's mental wellbeing. EHF Fellows Lani Evans MNZM and Alanna Irving, along with former Hilary Institute Chair Anake Goodall 🕉, are working together to create a connected and resilient Aotearoa NZ, where business success and community success go hand-in-hand.
