Congratulations to NJ TRANSIT and the entire project team on the opening of the fully renovated Elizabeth Train Station on the Northeast Corridor! WSP provided construction management services for the $74.5 million reconstruction project that includes new and extended high-level platforms to accommodate 12-car trains, four new elevators and ramps for ADA accessibility. Riders will enjoy an enclosed and air-conditioned waiting rooms on the platforms, along with a newly renovated plaza and vendor spaces for future lease opportunities. The modern two-story station building includes a street-level ticket area, offices for NJ Transit staff and exterior stairs with direct access to the platforms. It is also equipped with state-of-the-art passenger information, security and CCTV systems. Enhanced passenger experience, including safety and improved accessibility, in addition to increased capacity, were all key project goals.
