Design System Independence

Design System Independence

The last few newsletters have dealt with some serious topics—prioritization, strategy, responsibilities, moral philosophy—so it’s due time for something lighter.

In time for the U.S. holiday coming up later this week, a poem about the independence a design system can bring an enterprise organization.

In corridors of corporate might,

Where brand and code once clashed in fight,

A system dawns, a guiding light,

Bringing order, day and night.

No more the struggle to align,

Designer's vision, developer's line.

Components flow in grand design,

Efficiency now intertwines.

Freed from redundant toil and strife,

Creativity sparks new life.

Innovation cuts like a knife,

Through old constraints, once so rife.

Consistency reigns supreme,

Across devices, every screen.

User experience, now a dream,

Seamless, polished, and serene.

Collaboration blooms anew,

Teams united, with shared view.

Faster to market, errors few,

Brand integrity shines true.

In this freedom, we now soar,

Unburdened by the chains we bore.

Design system opens the door,

To possibilities galore.

So let us sing of liberty,

Found in digital harmony.

Enterprise agility,

Unleashed for all to see.
