An Interview with Diana Doerneman

What is the day of an Inspira Financial product owner like? For Diana Doerneman her days often involve meetings, PowerPoints, and Excel docs, but she also has the exciting opportunity to bring together ideas, enhancements, and new features products. She specifically works on Inspira’s health care flexible spending account (FSA), dependent care FSA, lifestyle spending account (LSA), and health reimbursement arrangement (HRA) products.  

If Doerneman’s ideas for products are approved, she works closely with agile scrum teams to get them in place and provides guidance on priority as well as partners with client services and sales on product offerings.   

“I’m always excited about something we’re doing,” Doerneman said. “We are working on enhancing capabilities with a few of our products and we’re always brainstorming for ideas on how we can improve the accountholder and client experience while innovating to differentiate ourselves in the market.” 

Many of Inspira’s products are governed by IRS rules and regulations, but Doerneman points to LSAs as one product that sets Inspira apart. “This account allows flexibility for how clients want to support their employees’ well-being,” Doerneman said. “There are different facets of well-being and not everyone is on the same path. Needs for well-being may also change throughout the year, and this account type promotes that flexibility of meeting the individual where they are within their journey.” 

Doerneman’s close work with agile team means she and her colleagues are constantly identifying new ways they can improve and change where necessary.  

“We are flexible and can change direction if requirements or business needs change. Just because we’ve done it this way for years doesn't mean there isn’t a better way,” Doerneman said.  

While Doerneman’s workdays are full of advocating for new product ideas, she enjoys her time off too.  

 “My ideal day off would be riding UTVs through unknown terrain (mountains/forest) with my family and a group of friends exploring the great outdoors,” Doerneman said. “We’d be near a body of water for a quick swim and stop to have a picnic with the sun shining down on our faces.”
