Fascinating! Overall, this report highlights the transformative role of PROMs in healthcare, emphasizing their potential to enhance patient care, improve health outcomes, and drive the transition towards a more accountable and patient-centered healthcare system. Here's my interpretation. Value-Based Transformation: The Mass General Brigham (MGB) health system has made significant strides in transforming healthcare towards a value-based model by launching a standardized patient-reported outcome measure (PROM) collection program in 2012. Benefits of PROMs: The effective design, collection, and use of PROMs have resulted in numerous benefits for patients, clinicians, and payers. ~These include: 👉 Facilitating shared decision-making aligned with patients’ goals. 👉Improving patient expectations about their likely experiences and outcomes from treatment. 👉Empowering patients to self-monitor during recovery. 👉Enhancing treatment by embedding PROMs in the patients’ electronic health records. 👉Reducing disparities in access, treatment, and outcomes for previously underserved racial and ethnic groups. Payer Benefits: For payers, using PROMs allows payments based on patient outcomes, aligning financial incentives with the quality of care. Learning Health System: By continuously addressing each stakeholder’s needs, MGB is building a learning health system to achieve health outcomes that equitably align with patients’ goals. Future Plans: The MGB PROMs Program and the Brigham and Women’s Hospital’s Patient-Reported Outcomes, Value, and Experience Center plan to continue their efforts to improve and expand the use of PROMs, accelerating the shift towards accountable, patient-centered care.

Check out my latest! In collaboration with Aasta Mehta at the City of Philadelphia – Department of Public Health we set out to understand how the numerous organizations involved in abortion care in Philly worked together, and we asked for their advice about how the dept could help their work post Dobbs. Here’s our process and a step by step guide for you to do the same in your city!
Public health and care delivery theme issue early release: A collaborative effort spearheaded by public health professionals at the City of Philadelphia – Department of Public Health used landscape analysis to gain insights from various segments of the health care community that would be affected directly and indirectly by the U.S. Supreme Court’s 2022 decision to overturn the federally protected health care right to abortion: https://nej.md/3RXrib4 Alice Abernathy Nadia Haerizadeh-Yazdi, PhD Shaiza Sinha, MPH Courtney Schreiber, Aasta Mehta
