Detroit Lions quarterback Jared Goff continues to have one heck of an offseason. On Saturday, the three-time Pro Bowler married longtime girlfriend, Sports Illustrated Swimsuit model Christen Harper, at the Ojai Valley Inn in Ojai, California. TMZ first reported the news.
The couple became acquainted with one another after meeting on a dating app in 2019. They have been in a relationship since that time and became engaged three years later in 2022.
Prior to tying the knot with Harper, Goff locked in a four-year, $212 million contract extension, with $170 million guaranteed, keeping him under contract with the Lions through the 2027 season, with an option for 2028.
“Blessed,” Goff wrote in May in an Instagram post about signing his new deal. “Fired up to continue to play for this city and the greatest fans in the world! Appreciate all the love I’ve received this past week.”
The extension comes off the heels of a sensational season where Goff led the Lions to their first NFC championship game appearance in over 30 years. In the 34-31 loss to the San Francisco 49ers, Goff went 25-for-41 passes for 273 yards, one touchdown, and zero turnovers.
Last season with the Lions, Goff, 29, had the second-most passing yards in the NFL with 4,575, and was fourth in passing touchdowns with 30. He also finished with a 97.9 passer rating, which was ninth-best in the league.
Goff, who is entering his fourth season in Detroit, has become a fan favorite in the Motor City, as he’s been a key figure in the Lions’ turnaround in recent seasons.
At any moment during one of the games of the other three professional sports teams in Detroit—Tigers, Red Wings, or Pistons—”Jared Goff” chants are prone to break out. Even last Friday during the Pistons’ introductory presser for Trajan Langdon, the chant took place digitally in the YouTube chat section as people awaited the event to start.
