Spain have won the first Women’s Nations League after defeating France 2-0 in the final.
Goals from Aitana Bonmati and Mariona Caldentey secured a memorable victory for Montse Tome’s side.
Spain took the lead in the first half through Ballon d’Or holder Bonmati. The 26-year-old found the net from close range following an excellent cross from Olga Carmona.

Shortly after the restart, the lead was extended from a similar position, as Ona Batlle’s cutback found Caldentey. With ample space in the France box, the Barcelona forward confidently found the bottom corner of the net, eluding the dive of goalkeeper Pauline Peyraud-Magnin.
A record-breaking attendance of 32,657 was announced at Estadio La Cartuja — the largest crowd to ever to watch a Spain women’s national team game on home soil.
Spain’s Nations League victory adds to their World Cup glory last year, where they defeated England 1-0 in the final.
Spain secured their spot at the Paris 2024 Olympics with a 3-0 victory over the Netherlands in the semi-finals, following goals from Jenni Hermoso, Bonmati, and Batlle.
The final spot will be decided in the third-placed play-off between the Netherlands and Germany.
