The Hurricanes picked up their second commitment in less than 24 hours on Friday, continuing their hot summer stretch of recruiting.

Georgia 2025 defensive lineman Herbert Scroggins committed Friday. His commitment comes less than a day after Miami landed Chaminade-Madonna defensive back Chris Ewald Jr.

Scroggins, a three-star defensive lineman in 247Sports’ composite rankings, chose Miami over offers from Auburn, Georgia Tech and North Carolina, among others.

The Benedictine Military School lineman is listed as the No. 29 edge rusher and No. 407 player in the 2025 class. He had 84 tackles, 10 tackles for loss and 12 sacks last season.

Scroggins is the first defensive lineman in UM’s recruiting class.

Scroggins commitment is Miami’s eighth commitment this month. The Hurricanes have surged up the recruiting leaderboards and now rank 15th in the nation, according to 247Sports’ rankings.
