I can’t tell you how many times I have heard the phrase, “Oh! So you’re the middle child.” The term itself comes along with a host of assumptions and implications, and while I may not personally relate to them all, I certainly feel bonded to my fellow middle children out there.

A marriage and family therapist shared eight signs someone is dealing with "eldest daughter syndrome," which they may not have noticed is tied to the responsibilities, expectations, and pressures they experienced as a child.

Eldest Daughter Syndrome is an adult female who hasn’t yet learned how to let go and have realistic expectations of someone other than herself. Those affected by EDS think nothing is ever good enough. It’s the perceived concept that they’re not capable of meeting others’ expectations and as a result, are left feeling inadequate & struggling to trust others.
