Triple alliance

On 23 May 1915, Italy declared war on its former ally, Austria-Hungary. The Triple Alliance was reduced to an alliance between Germany and Austria-Hungary and Europe no longer seemed quite as finely balanced into two opposing camps as it had at the outbreak of war.

The Triple ALLIANCE system of WW1 was composed of Germany, Austria-Hungary, and Italy. As opposed to the Triple Entente system which was composed of Russia, France, and Britain. The triple alliance- Germany, Austria-Hungary and Italy and the triple entente- France, Great Britain and Russia. These groups were linked and would assist the others in times of war for example if Russia were to go to war Great Britain and France were required to come to their aid.
