A three-tiered triggurat provides clear divisions of the bottom layers of a food forest. Shrubs, the herbaceous layer, ground cover and the root layer all have space in this segmented structure. Climbers penetrate all layers and the canopy is provided by a tree in our backyard. This creates a cooperative micro-climate, mimicking natural systems and benefiting all layers.
