#BritishColonial A British colonial rosewood cupboard with Fleur-de-Lys carving on the frieze. The floating panels of the doors are carved with a large oval sunburst design, centred with an oval disk and leaf embellishments in the corners. The sunburst or Surajmukhi is a typical motif of the state of Gujarat signifying prosperity. A great example of an early 19th century Anglo-Indian cupboard: generally European in form its decoration was influenced by Indian traditions.
