Annette P. Lilley

FALMOUTH – Annette P. Lilley, 84, passed away on June 24, 2024, peacefully at her home after a lengthy illness.

She was born Dec. 27, 1939 in Houlton. The daughter of Leonard and Irene (Gagnon) Plourde, Annette grew up in Houlton, attended Houlton High School and graduated in 1957. Annette was later employed by New England Telephone and Telegraph company in Houlton, as an operator. Annette married her high school sweetheart, Daniel G. Lilley in 1960 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Houlton.

Annette and Dan moved to the Brooklyn Navy Yard in Brooklyn, N.Y. where Dan enlisted in the U.S. Navy. She accepted a transfer to the New York Telephone Company as an information operator. Annette later supported herself and her husband as he began to pursue a higher education at Pace University in New York.

After moving to Boston, Mass., Annette worked as a secretary at Borg-Warner in Brighton, Mass. as her husband Dan pursued a law degree at Boston University Law School.

Annette and Dan returned to Maine in the mid-’60s, eventually settling in Portland where they raised two sons, Dan and David. She enjoyed cooking, sewing and traveling all over the world including Paris, London, Rome, Thailand, Hong Kong, and the Bahamas. She and Dan later became snowbirds settling in Miami Beach, Fla.

Annette will be remembered as a kind lady who always wore a smile and had a good word for everyone. She loved her home and enjoyed watching the birds at her bird feeder as well as having great conversations with friends and family.

Annette was predeceased by her mother, Irene (Gagnon) Plourde and father, Leonard Plourde; sister, Kathleen Grass; son, David Adam Lilley; and her late husband, Daniel G. Lilley, Esq.

Annette is survived by her son, Daniel G. Lilley, II, his wife Elaine; her sister, Blanche Hornberger; many nieces and nephews; as well as her faithful Yorkshire Terrier, Zippy.
