Oklahoma’s comeback win in the Women’s College World Series topped a quiet day sports viewership on Tuesday, June 4.
Tuesday’s Oklahoma-Florida Women’s College World Series elimination game averaged 989,000 viewers on ESPN, down from Oklahoma-UCLA two years ago, the last time the Sooners played a winner-take-all game (1.04M). Oklahoma’s comeback, extra inning win delivered the top sports audience of the day.
Placing second, a United States women’s national team soccer match with Korea averaged a combined 553,000 across TNT (462K) and truTV (91K) — up from the sides’ previous match on Sunday (423K). Over on sibling TBS, a Twins-Yankees Major League Baseball game drew 462,000 — the network’s top audience of the season and a 68% increase over Mets-Braves last year (275K).
Further down the dial, Carlos Alcaraz’ win over Stefanos Tsitsipas topped French Open coverage with 413,000 on Tennis Channel.
In the WNBA, NBA TV drew 239,000 for a Liberty-Sky regular season game — the fourth-largest WNBA audience ever on the network, which became Nielsen rated in 2010. All four have come this season, with the other three involving the Fever. Prior to this season, the record for a WNBA game on NBA TV was 210,000 for a 2014 Lynx-Mercury winner-take-all playoff game for a berth in the WNBA Finals.
Beyond live sports, the debut of the ESPN 30 For 30 documentary “I’m Just Here for the Riot” (about the 2011 Vancouver riots that followed the Canucks’ loss in the Stanley Cup Final) averaged 311,000, with an encore at 102,000 on ESPN2. It led into the debut of the E:60 documentary “No Easy Victories” (about the 1994 New York Rangers Stanley Cup run) at 221,000.

How did undisputed do
That’s a quiet day… I assume days with nothing getting over a million viewers are not that rare in the summer? Only baseball is on and regular season baseball doesn’t do that well.
On another subject, what do you make of the reports that WBD is negotiating a 4th package for the NBA TV rights? I honestly don’t know where the NBA can even find enough game to sustain a 4th package without cutting from the other 3 packages, unless they say “F it” and just basically air every game nationally I guess lol, but even then, I don’t know where they will find the playoff games to sustain such a package (And the hypothetical 4th package apparently includes some playoff games).
No, that is typical, though this year will be a bit different due to the Olympics.
Haven’t given enough serious thought to the 4th package idea, but the concerns you raise are correct — there’s not enough of value to carve out a worthwhile package for WBD (certainly that is the case in the playoffs).
Hi Jon, any WNBA ratings from Tuesday night?
Yes, mentioned in the article. The only other game were on NBA League Pass or CBSSN (which is not Nielsen rated).
Thanks! Sorry, missed NY vs. Chicago at first glance
What about the numbers for undisputed
I see NY vs Chicago on there! Assuming the other games weren’t shown on any network?
You can ignore this one!
How did Undisputed do on this day in ratings ?
Do you have undisputed numbers
Why do you keep on asking? If it isn’t listed, it’s below 100k.
Then, whether it gets 60k or 50k or 30k is largely immaterial unless you work on the show
