About us

The Hearts in Rhythm Organization (HiRO, pronounced hero) is a unique network of Canadian heart rhythm specialists, researchers, allied healthcare professionals and patients working to improve care for patients and families affected by inherited, genetic heart rhythm conditions. Founded by Dr. Andrew Krahn in April 2016, HiRO is determined to educate the public, patients and health care delivery teams about warning signs, useful testing, family patterns and communication tools to identify and prevent sudden death. To realize this potential sooner by driving knowledge dissemination and education, HiRO launched their own website to strengthen efforts to reach health professionals, patients and their families across the country. The website is the primary interface for patients, families, health care providers, researchers and the general public. It provides a public resource on inherited heart rhythm conditions, a resource centre for patients and families, and a toolkit for health care professionals as well as for researchers.
