I’ve been with Franklin Templeton for seven years and currently serve as a Venture Analyst in the newly formed Franklin Templeton Strategic Ventures (FTSV) group. My role involves evaluating innovative fintech and technology companies for corporate investment opportunities that may align with our strategic objectives. Before joining Franklin Templeton in our customer operations department, I knew very little about the company or the mutual fund business. But to my surprise, I quickly discovered that I was deeply passionate about investing becoming my long-term career. ⚙️ Shaping the future of asset management #AI, #blockchain and #fintech have been major buzzwords in global markets for the past several years now, and many are in a race to unlock the value these technologies can bring to the way we work, live and interact with each other. My work involves understanding these technologies and selecting companies that align with our vision for the future. 🌱 Sharing is learning One of my most memorable experiences was participating in our University Partnerships program by helping students with their AI-company pitches. I think it’s incredibly important to always pay it forward, so it was rewarding to share what I’ve learned from my experience over the years to help students with their final presentation. 🌍 Social engagement I have the privilege of serving as our global lead for the Black Empowerment Network (BEN) at Franklin Templeton, and it’s one of the most important social initiatives at work that brings me joy. I think it’s important that we use our platforms to advance causes that are meaningful to us, and I’ve been incredibly grateful to work for a firm that supports the success of its Black employees and our community. 🫧 Along my journey with Franklin Templeton: 🟣 I’ve had the opportunity to move through multiple roles from an entry-level position in Transfer Agency to becoming a Venture Analyst. I feel this demonstrates the potential opportunity for employees with similar backgrounds as mine to advance within the company. 🟣 I’ve had the privilege of benefiting from dedicated leaders during my time here who invested in my development and helped me grow into the professional I am today. 🟣 I’m proud that my company is committed to community service through partnerships with nonprofits and offering employee benefits like donation dollars and volunteer time off. As we near the end of Franklin Templeton's global month of service, 💜 #ImpactDays 💜 we’re thrilled to share the incredible journey we've been on! All month long, our open-hearted employees have been stepping up to volunteer, whether it’s running for charity, distributing school supplies, or preparing meals to support local communities. From engaging with children through fun and educational activities, to hosting financial empowerment workshops and sessions on emotional well-being, our teams have been making a real difference. We've also been rolling up our sleeves to prepare and distribute food, helping to nourish and support those in need. 🫶 While the month may be coming to a close, our commitment to volunteering and giving back doesn't end here. Recently, we talked with Izabela Bartkowiak, Franklin Templeton’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Program Manager, who oversees the firm’s global employee volunteer program, #Involved, and supports the company’s philanthropic activities across all locations. Read what Iza shared with us. 👋 Hi! I’ve been with Franklin Templeton for nearly nine years. I joined as an analyst in Global Trade Services (GTS) and transitioned to CSR in early 2020. Back in my 20s, I lived in London for a couple of years. After moving back to Poland, I looked for an employer who offers global growth opportunities and Franklin Templeton was the perfect fit. 🌱 Company culture and values Every day, I connect with employees who are eager to partner with charitable organizations, give back to their communities and make a difference. My job involves providing them with the framework, guidance and necessary connections to support their philanthropic efforts. Building relationships is a core value at Franklin Templeton that resonates deeply with me. When work gets overwhelming at times, it’s important to have your team around you to support you and help you get through. 🥰 Memorable experience During my time in GTS, I formed strong bonds with my Foreign Exchange (FX) Transaction Operations team. We came up with a saying, “FX for life,” emphasizing the importance of our bond and reminding us that no matter where life or career takes you, you are always connected to the FX team. One year, for my birthday, the team gave me a handmade laptop case with “FX for life” print, a cherished gift I still use. 🫶 Uniting for a cause Through the #Involved program, employees partner with other like-minded colleagues around the world for a good cause. This includes collaboration with Franklin Templeton’s business resource groups (BRGs) to support their diverse missions. For example, June is our global month of service and, as it’s also Pride month, we look for opportunities to partner with our 🏳️🌈 Pride BRG to allow employees to participate in volunteering initiatives while supporting Pride’s mission. 🧘♀️ Balancing work and staying active Our small global CSR team stays connected and we virtually celebrate each other’s milestones. Outside of work, I exercise and practice yoga regularly. I’m a water lover, and when the weather allows, I like to spend as much time as possible by the lake on my standup paddleboard or by the sea relaxing.
