Know Your RVs

Towable

Towable RVs require vehicle support to be moved from location to location. When purchasing, always verify your vehicle’s towing capabilities. Depending on the desired model, some RVs are small and lightweight enough to be towed by the family car, while others may require an upgraded vehicle, basic SUV, or pickup truck. Be sure to consider the added weight of personal belongings, as this contributes to the overall travel weight for your RV.

Motorhome

Motorized RVs can freely move around, without the need to be attached to a vehicle or towed. Available in both gas and diesel builds, models are divided into three classes: the Class A (largest), the Class C (2nd largest), and the Van Camper (smallest). As a sizing reference, Class A RVs are built on a bus chassis, Class C models are built on a truck chassis, and Van Campers models are built on a full-size van chassis.

Class A Gas

Class A gas motorhomes are created with both camping couples and families in mind. These motorhomes have the ability to sleep a minimum of four, plus have home-like benefits to put comfort into your RV life.

  • Superior low-end torque availability, allowing for better performance in the mountains.
  • Can be driven for long periods of time without maintenance, an advantage for full-timers.
  • Less maintenance overall when compared to the gas-driven model.

  • Less expensive to buy and maintain: parts and labor less specialized, easier to find service stations.
  • More resistant to cold, performs better at high altitudes.
  • Lower torque than the diesel model.
