A privilege of a morning at Channel 4 yesterday talking about the serious business of crea-TV-ty with the brilliant Katie Jackson, Victoria Appleby, and the rather quite legendary Sir John Hegarty. Creative quality is the biggest single lever that marketers can pull to amplify the effectiveness of their ad campaigns, so it’s never been more important to protect investment in great creative work. We're in the middle of publishing Campaign Magazine UK's The Lists, our review of the best of 2023. The joy of digital publishing (😁) means I haven't had much time to share them here in real time, but today we've published a new/returning one: Top Campaigns. The work lists divide executions into their constituent parts (Top Film Ads, Top Outdoor Ads etc), which is not how they're conceived or experienced in the world, so we thought we'd fix that (link in the comments). So, congratulations to Unilever's Marmite (adam&eveDDB), Mondelēz International's Cadbury (VCCP), Uber Eats (Mother), McDonald's (Leo Burnett UK) and Channel 4 (4creative) for putting together great campaigns we're delighted to be able to celebrate in the round 🙌 .

On Monday October 9, chosen from 8,000 applications, 41 apprentices joined Channel 4. 16 apprentices joined our Leeds HQ, 21 in London and two both in Glasgow and Manchester. Their apprenticeships, which range from 15 to 24 months, are with a wide range of departments including 4Studio, 4creative, finance, marketing, commissioning and technology. Channel 4’s Nations and Regions Managing Director Sinead Rocks said: “Breaking into the broadcasting sector can be really difficult so it’s important we create opportunities for young people to give them an insight into what a career in the creative industries entails."
