On day 4, it was always going to be a challenge to secure new government attendance at the British Fashion Council summer drinks, so we're hugely grateful that Jonathan Reynolds, the new Secretary of State at Department for Business and Trade took the time to join us, and stand in the rain in Hyde Park to meet with designers, retailers and manufacturers to understand the concerns and opportunities in the British #Fashion sector. Thank you also to all of our friends and colleagues from across the sector, government and international community who joined us. (Photo Credit: Nic Ford)

The British Fashion Council has laid out a five-point list of priorities for the incoming government. Though some, like the restoration of tax-free shopping for tourists, don’t appear to be on the cards, others could gain more support. Fashion didn’t get a mention in Labour’s manifesto, but the party has indicated it wants to support creative industries with more apprenticeships and emphasis on the arts in schools.
