The super-strength sweet spot, groups vs teams and zone thinking. These were just some of the topics that were discussed in our breakfast roundtable for HR and People leaders. Our host was David Young: the acclaimed sports psychologist who works with an iconic premier league club as well as the England Cricket team. Thanks to everyone who joined and contributed to the conversation, we look forward to hosting next quarter's.

The World Economic Forum’s Global Gender Gap Report shared a reduction in women in leadership roles from 37.8% to 37.1%. This trend wasn’t caused by lack of aspiration - McKinsey’s 2023 Women in the Workplace report identified there was equal ambition between men and women. To avoid your business falling back in progress, we advise: Understanding individual ambitions - ensure your managers know who wants to step into leadership positions and identify any obstacles they may face to achieve these goals. Mitigate obstacles - ensure the right policies and support systems are in place to provide equity in achieving leadership positions. When deciding what you need to do, learn from others - other sectors have faced, learned and are making an impact on this issue. Their success stories and missteps are yours for you to learn from. The Guardian has reported a 50% uplift in tribunal cases mentioning 'remote work' since 2021. This trend is likely to continue as significant tensions are prevalent between flexible working requests and employers' confidence levels in asking employees back into the office. Here are our key tips for getting the balance right and avoiding a case hitting your business: 1. Review each job role - are you returning employees to work for legitimate reasons? 2. Transparency - share those reasons with the business, its benefits, and any success stories of how it's improved performance and/or culture 3. Consult with the business - understand individual quirks that might arise and work with your employees to find a resolution. You can read the full article on The Guardian here: https://bit.ly/4aXtpCn

Thanks to everyone who joined the Hintel vs deverellsmith charity football match at Fulham Football Club yesterday. It was a 7-4 victory to Hintel but the real win was for our charity partner. We raised just over £6,000 for Joe's Buddy Line - a cause that aims to promote and protect the mental health of young people.
