Joe’s Buddy Line promotes and protects the mental health of young people from primary school to university. We envision a society where mental and physical health receive equal importance, and where every young person feels confident, resilient, and able to ask for mental health help. We provide this through accessible and empowering mental health and wellness support to young people and their communities. Through education, resources, and advocacy, we create environments where mental health conversations are open, accepting and stigma-free. The charity focus’ its programmes within England and Wales supporting educational institutions and their surrounding communities in areas of cultural, social and economic challenges. One in four teenagers has a diagnosed mental health difficulty, an increase from one in six in 2021. This statistic is showing a worrying increase in the under 25’s self-harming and is presenting itself with an increase in comorbidities amongst this age group. resulting in a rise in demand on support services creating lack of service provision and a lack of clarity of availability for young people seeking support. Charity Focus: Addressing Need that will support Fewer young people reaching crisis Increasing the number of young people able to articulate emotional need and know where to get support Increasing the number of young people self-managing their mental wellbeing Programme Focus: Educational Institutions Local Community Research, Advocacy and Collaborative Partnerships

“It’s okay to not be okay.” It’s one of the most famous lines in mental health campaigning. But for lots of us who are struggling, it doesn’t always feel like it’s okay. In a recent poll we found that 56% of respondents experiencing mental ill health still feel ashamed. And feeling shame stops people getting the help and support they need.
