Interior Review of the 2024 Toyota Highlander

The 2024 Highlander can accommodate up to eight passengers in its 135-cubic-foot passenger cabin. Some trims offer optional captain chairs for the second row, which reduces the seating capacity to seven.

Trunk space is 16 cubic feet with all three rows of seats deployed. Some trims get a hands-free power liftgate to aid in loading and unloading. Folding the third row of seats gives you 48 cubic feet. You can also fold the second row as well, and unlock a total of 84 cubic feet of cargo space.

Power and Performance of the 2024 Toyota Highlander

Toyota offers two powerful and efficient powertrains across the 2024 Highlander range. The first option is a 2.4-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine. The engine delivers 265 horsepower and 310 pound-feet of torque. An 8-speed electronically controlled automatic transmission sends power to the front wheels. Buyers can also choose all-wheel-drive.

All-wheel-drive equipped models get Toyota’s Multi-Terrain select system, with special modes for mud, sand, rocks, dirt, and snow. The engine also has automatic start-stop technology for fuel savings.

The 2024 Highlander Hybrid range uses Toyota’s latest Hybrid Synergy Drive system. A 2.5-liter naturally aspirated engine is coupled with two electric motors and a CVT gearbox. The system can develop 243 horsepower in total. All-wheel-drive is optional and adds an electric motor for the rear axle.

The 2024 Highlander range can tow up to 5,000 pounds with the 2.4-liter turbocharged engine. Opting for the hybrid variant gets you 3,500 pounds of towing capacity.
