Lindsay Lohan marked her return to romantic comedies in October 2022 when she played an engaged heiress—with a rare radiant-cut yellow diamond engagement ring—in the Netflix film Falling for Christmas. Now, the actress is starring in another movie on the streaming service, Irish Wish, which will be available to stream on March 15, 2024. But this time, her character is a bridesmaid-turned-bride.

In the motion picture, Lohan’s character, Maddie Kelly, travels to Ireland to be a bridesmaid in her friend’s wedding. The catch, however, is that her friend is about to marry who Maddie thinks is the love of her life, Paul Kennedy (played by Alexander Vlahos). In the official trailer for Irish Wish, Maddie wishes that she was the one about to tie the knot with Paul, which comes to fruition as Maddie wakes up as the bride-to-be. As the trailer goes on, being engaged to Paul isn’t exactly what Maddie had always envisioned it would be, especially after meeting photographer James Thomas (played by Ed Speelers).

Not only does the trailer give viewers a glimpse at the plot, but it’s also filled with wedding inspiration. In one scene, after Maddie wakes up next to Paul, Maddie desperately tells a friend, “I am not the one who’s getting married, she is,” as she points to a photo of the engaged couple, which quickly morphs into a picture of Maddie and Paul—eliciting a gasp from Maddie. “Exactly,” her friend tells Maddie. “You, my friend, are marrying Paul Kennedy.” The camera then zooms in on the engagement ring on Maddie’s left ring finger, which appears to be an emerald-cut green gemstone.

We later learn that Maddie was the one who popped the question. As the couple and a group are seated at a dinner table, someone asks for the origin story of Maddie’s engagement ring. Paul tells them, “You got down on your knee, and you proposed to me.” Maddie then asks, “I proposed? I mean, yes, of course. Yes, I proposed!”

Although we aren’t sure which decision Maddie will choose, as she’s torn between two lives, we do know that Irish Wish will have a wedding scene. The trailer shows a brief look at the ceremony venue, where the perimeter of the room is lined with pink curtains and marble statues. A hedge of blooms borders the aisle, which has a cascading flower chandelier hanging above it. The backdrop, where Maddie and Paul are set to trade vows, is engulfed in more florals and greenery.

At the end of the trailer, we see Maddie standing in front of a window, contemplating whether to go through with the wedding. In that high-stakes moment, she’s clad in her wedding dress, an A-line ensemble with a high neckline and long, puff sleeves. Maddie is also wearing a lace-trimmed, cathedral-length veil and a floral headpiece. “Now’s the time to speak up,” the voiceover says as a quick montage of scenes wraps up the trailer.
