We are thrilled to announce that in 2023, AWIU partnered with 19 amazing grantees around the globe, spanning from Uganda to Guatemala to Nepal and beyond. From sewing programs to malnutrition initiatives to hospital upgrades, these projects make a real impact. 🌎 The micro-grants program was established by AWIU in 2008 to award grants ranging from $1,000 to $3,000 to organizations and projects that support women internationally. Many of these incredible organizations were first-time recipients, and we are so proud to support the crucial work they do to enhance the livelihood of women worldwide. 💜 Follow along as we highlight these incredible grantees each week! ✨ #AWIU #WomentoWomenUnderstanding #BridgesofUnderstanding #CulturalExchange #SupportWomen #GlobalCitizen

Our LA members recently reconnected with Agather Atuhaire — 2024 IWOC Awardee and celebrated Ugandan lawyer, human rights defender, and freelance journalist. During their meeting, they discussed Agather’s crucial work in exposing corruption and the vital role of gaining trust in journalism. Agather emphasized the importance of training young journalists in the effective use of social media to amplify their reporting, highlighting an area where AWIU can lend further support. This is how we build women-to-women understanding that leads to impact. 📚🔍 #AWIU #IWOC WomenLeaders #HumanRights #Journalism #Empowerment #IWOC #AWIU
