The Platte Valley Youth Services Center in Greeley has been teaching youth through an innovative monthly program called Passport to the World, which includes studying the cultures and cuisines of different parts of the world. Each month, the youth and staff cook a special meal consisting of dishes from that part of the world. February's menu was Jamaican-inspired. The dishes included jerk spiced chicken, twice-baked sweet potato, coconut rice with greens and peas, hush puppies and key lime parfaits.

If you have not heard, this month, we bid farewell to our esteemed Deputy Director, Debbie Oldenettel. She was named the Director of the Office of Children, Youth and Families for the Colorado Department of Human Services. We thank her for her endless support of DCJ and playing a pivotal role in shaping DCJ's trajectory. Throughout her time with DCJ, Debbie was instrumental in implementing state policies, establishing procedures, incorporating new roles, and providing steady leadership as the interim director when the need arose. Her absence will truly be felt. Her unwavering commitment and invaluable contributions have left an indelible mark on our operations. While we will miss her presence, we are excited to see the changes and positive impact she will make in her new role and look forward to shifting how we collaborate with her as a member of the @co_cdhs. She begins her new role with @co_cdhs June 10, 2024. Please join us in congratulating Debbie on this well-deserved achievement.
