Earlier this month, a group of Kazakhstan and CDPHE air quality and climate specialists gathered at CDPHE. The group discussed community processes, meteorology, air alerts, and air permitting. Kazakhstan has a climate and landscape similar to Colorado. It has mountains and a dry desert-like climate. The group shared insights, processes, and challenges when it comes to addressing air quality issues in a desert climate with high altitudes. Thank you to the WorldDenver Organization for coordinating the visit and collaboration. We appreciate the Kazakhstan visitor group making the trip to Denver and CDPHE! 📸 WorldDenver

#Grant Opportunities As we enter Gun Violence Awareness Month this June, it's imperative that we unite to address this pressing issue. Every year, countless lives are tragically lost or forever altered by gun violence, impacting families, communities, and our society as a whole. At the intersection of this critical conversation lies an opportunity to not only raise awareness but also to take action. Amidst the challenges we face, it's essential to recognize that addressing gun violence is a multifaceted effort requiring collaboration, resources and innovative solutions. Here at the Division of Criminal Justice, we have the the Multidisciplinary Crime Prevention and Crisis Intervention Grant available to combat both the immediate and long-term effects, including initiatives aimed at reducing gun violence. By leveraging this grant, organizations and communities can implement evidence-based strategies, such as violence intervention programs, mental health support services, and community outreach efforts. These initiatives are intended to foster resilience and promote healing in our communities. As we observe Gun Violence Awareness Month, let's not only raise awareness but also take tangible steps towards creating safer, more resilient communities. Head to our website to view the list of grants available today. Together, we can make a meaningful difference. https://lnkd.in/gVHqm3ya #SafterTogether #SaferTogether

Earlier this week, Governor Jared Polis signed a new bill into law that will help CDPHE continue to protect clean air in communities disproportionately impacted by pollution and climate change in Colorado. The law will improve oversight of petroleum refineries, helping to ensure that all Coloradans can breathe clean, healthy air. Learn more about the new law: https://lnkd.in/gTAZSHKr 📷 Michael Ogletree
